Allright, first things first, this forum is by far the best i've seen so far. Where i was once a total noob yesterday i am now a "lesser" noob today all thanks to the info found on here. I've managed to get the appropritae cable/driver for my lg8100 phone, get pitmin to detect it, play around with my contacts, pictures, mp3's and use my own ringtones. One thing i haven't been able to do so far. How can i set my personal alerts/ringer tones (when you get a text message or when someone leaves a voice mail) ? I can only set my personal ringtones that i uploaded to the phone as ringtones and unlike the voice calls ringer selection menu (9,1,1,1,1) i can't hit the left and/or right arrow to switch from pre-installed ringtones to the dowloaded ones in the messages voice mail menu (9,1,1,2,1). I've tried ul test files in numerous different folders via bitmin's filesystem without luck. I've added sounds in the my album/sound album but you can't set those as alerts. I'M running out of ideas here.

Surely there must be a way to do this, i just haven't found the proper post yet i guess or the solution is so obvious that i can't see it..(yes i have browsed part of this thread and i've used the search tool). Anyways, thanks in advance for the help and keep up the good work.

i connected the phone to the pc with "printer" cable. the pc recognized the phone as a modem. so i guess the driver should be installed properly. But bitpim won't read anything from the phone (I've updated to the newest version), any idea how to use bitpim to read the file system on a950, thanks!

do you think I should take my LG8100 back? Is this phone hackable, or no. I hope it is!

Also, is it overally physically nicer looking? And how's the headset volume?
