It uses air time. So it's "free" after 9pm on week days and on weekends for verizon customers.

    New York Error: Malformed URL?

    Hi guys and gals,
First post here, I was on the old GUI forums for my Audiovox 9500 and finally oput it to rest by accidently running it over last week.
So I found you all, and opted for the LG 8100 over the Razr, and waiting for all my accessories from eBay.
Anyway, I'm trying to access free WAP and coming up with the error code.
Am I inputing an incorrect URL?
    <wap.google.com> ?
    Thanks!

    Heres what I did...

    use HottProxy...
    Install that...
    Run the admin...
Create username(if its an LG, your username should be your phone number(5554554555...no dashes or the first 1) and password....
    Close admin...
    Run Hottproxy...
It will give you "publicip" and "port"...
Put those into your phone as IP and port, leave the 2nd port regular(0443 i think)...
put your pw in the phone...
    It will reset
    Hit internet on your phone...
It should work assuming you dont have a router or software firewall, in that case you have to open the port 9201 or whatever it is on hottproxy...

    HOPE THAT HELPS

OK guys, for the 8100 this is what you do, oh and forget that hotproxy thing because thats annoying to have to have your computer running when you want to go on the internet with your phone.

    1. hit MENU>0>000000

    2. hit 8>1>1 then erase that IP address and put in 199.3.20.235 and save it

    3. now go to secondary address and clear that out and save it with nothing there

    4. Now you must change your homepage (which is why you are all probably getting errors) so hit clear to go back to the wap settings menu, and the hit 4 to go to homepage....Change that to something like http://www.google.com

And Thats IT! your should be able to hit your internet key and it will take a few seconds to connect, but after that it should take you straight to google!
