First of all, load any mp3 or mp3's you wish to use into your phone via MPT, once you have transferred the mp3's close MPT and start up BitPim, Then using BitPim go into the "filesystem tab and delete the files "MyToneDB.db" and "TmpTneDB.db, reboot your phone and then assign ringtones.
    Talus91,

This is how I see the OEM v3c neuter analogy...
Basically they've only corrupted 1/5 of the left nut and left the right nut completely intact (full obex)

So.... in other words only 9/10th's of both nuts were left intact. Talus91 thanks a million to him now has enabled both nuts.

yea... say you upload an mp3, delete the files and then restart the phone...

the next time u wana upload an mp3 as a ringer, u have to delete the files again.

BUT, you can delete the files, upload like 20 mp3's, restart the phone, and they'll all work.

    Later

Wow if this is the case it will be interesting to see how many units are affected, and how many people are pissed enough to sue telus over this. It is your phone; PC manufacturers or ISP's are not liable for what individuals do with their product therefore telus rendering your property non-functional would amount to vandalism this willfull damage to personal property is most likely unlawfull.

sorry guys, just kidding! although i was half expecting some such BS to pop-up.

i must admit, i'm feeling like i'm waiting for the shoe to drop on this one. maybe the "software" update to fix the various bugs with EVDO/BT + the video camera, and/or to "enable" ringtones will cripple the phone a la Verizon.

Its only software, in most cases whatever they do, can be undone. Someone will always find a work around.

Unfortunately MPT (Mobile Phone Tools) is only for windows platform. The only work around is to use VPC then install MPT. I'm not sure if it's stable but at least you have an option

It was removed and the person who posted it has been banned. Anyone else who wishes to post a link to downloading software without purchasing it will also be banned.
