Just thought I'd post my success story for uploading MP3 ringtones and how I did it.

    1. Follow the MP3 encoding guide here:
    http://www.ninetoez.net/moto/maketones.html
Use Audacity to crop a portion of a song. Export it as a wav. Use RazorLAME to encode it into MP3 at the suggested bitrate and frequency.

    2. Follow the MP3 Ringtone uploading guide here:
    http://telusv3c.blogspot.com/2006/02/mp3-ringtones.html
I had to combine it with some other parts to get it completely working.
-Download and install Motorola PST and P2KCommander
-Start up PST without the phone plugged in
-Plug in the phone. When it asks for drivers select the option to find them yourself and tell it to look in the folder where PST is installed. Repeat that for each of the drivers. There's about 4 of them.
-Once all of the drivers have been installed, start up P2KCommander
-Follow the above guide up to step 3.
-Before closing P2KCommander, navigate to the "a/" directory and delete the "MyToneDB.db" and "TmpTneDB.db" files
    -Then proceed to step 4
-After the phone has rebooted, look in Settings>Ring Styles for the uploaded ringtones.

I think the reason you have to use this method for Telus is because Telus "cripples" their phones so people will buy their ringtones/graphics/games. Some companies might not do this, so it might even be easier.

Don't take my word for it, but I would assume that as long as the file system is structured the same way, you should be able to use this method.

the companies in the state like t-mobile do restrict their phones so that u can only download content from them, but i guess i would try this...i found a website that gives a tutorial on it...thanx for the feedback.

I'm ready to go F^%# postal! I've been trying to get this $#@^!% going for days and days and cannot get it working. I've tried every tool, bought every program I needed, tried multiple methods (blue tooth and USB) I've read every post in every thread I can find and I still CAN NOT GET THIS $#^%@$# TO WORK! Every program or method has problems/issues/crashes
I've even tried it all on multiple computers.

I will PAY someone to help me get this working!!!

I feel like I'd like to sue Telus for crippling my phone but I'm sure there's some loophole that's got them covered somewhere in writing.

I would suggest starting from the beginning. Sometimes the problem is that you've tried too many different methods and they are conflicting with each other.

    1. Connect your phone.
    2. Go to control panel > System > Hardware > Device Manager and remove the Motorola USB Modem drivers (probably listed under modems)
    3. Disconnect the phone
    4. Start up PST
    5. Reconnect the phone and let windows autodetect it again.

Maybe the problem is a bad USB cable?

Other than that, I don't know why it wouldnt be working.

I've used both my Olympus camera cable and my genuine Motorola cable.

I don't think you were answering my question above...and probably didn't mean to.
What I'd like to to is get rid of some of the useless default ringers in the handset, which CANNOT be deleted from the handset itself.
you can delelete the ringtone by using PST with p2k commander

I did this once, and went to add some more and the .db files did not rebuild any suggestions?

EDIT: Figured it out, the files regenerate in the main folber and not the moterola/shared/audio folder!

I have a Verizon V3c...I read someone used only BitPim to do this? How? I get a "this feature has been blocked by provider" stuff. Ive tried MPT, PST, and for some reason I cant figure out how to send things to a phone.
