    -Use [M]otorola [P]hone [T]ools.
-Make sure it is version 4.04, no less.
-Create, crop, transfer mp3's to your phone (transfer button).
    -Close MPT.
    -Open Bitpim.
-Follow instructions above to detect your phone.
    -Go to the 'filesystem tab'
-delete the two files stated above.
-Right click on the "\" at the top.
    -Select "Reboot Phone"
-Go to your phone and your MP3 that you just transferred will be available for ringtone use.

Can't get any easier than that. Forget that drag, drop blah blah. Just do it the simple way as stated. I did it it works flawlessly and I've got a TELUS V3c.

I can confirm this as well however I don't use BitPim to reboot. I simply disconnect the usb cable and power my phone 'off' and then 'on'.

I cant find a version of MPT to download so i was following the other guys advice which sounded like you didnt need MPT.
The error is an exception in Bitim, i cant paste it all so here is a partial:

    origdata = "\x13\x05\x01\x01\xd1H0\x00\xff\x00\x01\x00.moto\x ea'~"

i have the telus razr vc3. I'm able to upload mp3 files onto the phone with MPT. I cannot get BitPim to detect my phone. Yes, i have selected motorola USB modem it comes and says COM3 when i do that, i have also tried to manually type in 'Motorola USB modem' as well... here is the log BitPim gives me:

    Detect Phone result: {'COM3': {'mode_modem': True, 'mode_brew': False, 'firmwareresponse': None, 'esn': '0x1E9800B0', 'model': 'Motorola CDMA V3c Phone', 'firmware_version': 'GATW_06.04.00R', 'manufacturer': 'Motorola CE, Copyright 2000'}}

    any suggestions ?

I went through about 80% of the posts here and didn't find my answer.

    here's what's wrong with my mp3s:

I got them on using MPT and used BITPIM to delete the two files but when I someone calls me... it doesn't ring.

I can play the songs on the phone, but when I apply them they just won't ring.

also, I already had about 4 downloaded ringtones from TM but now I cannot use those as anything BUT ringtones and cannot assign them to people or groups specifically.

has anyone else had this problem?

    EDIT:

NEVERMIND GUYS, I JUST DID THE WHOLE PROCESS AGAIN AND REBOOTED FROM BITPIM AND IT WORKED THIS TIME.

it was weird though, I did nothing different except reboot from bitpim instead of just unplugging and power cycling...

    2nd EDIT:

IF YOU HAVE ANY DOWNLOADED RINGTONES, THEY WILL NO LONGER BE ABLE TO BE APPLIED TO ANY ONE PERSON AND/OR GROUP AND ONLY BE APPLIED TO RINGTONES.

just thought you guys might want to know...

    Thats weird...

I have two downloaded ringtones, and I can still use them for contacts or just regular calls ! Even after deleting the two files and using my own mp3 !

I had the same problem but went back into the media gallery in the phone and chose apply as ringtone then all were usable again. Hope this works.

PS...Thanks to the founder of the Mp3 fix as my walls couldn't have stood much more head pounding against them.

are you looking in the root of the file system?

as soon as you click on the \ in bitpim, it should list the files, the *.db files are located in the root of the folder

    Hello

I just got a new V3c and I have been reading over the 13 pages total... and I havent gotten it to work quite yet.

I do have MPT 4.04 + BitPim 0808. I got as far as deleteing the 2 files.

Yet nothing changed on my phone. Even after rebooting. I go to media gallery / sounds/ and then "APPLY AS RINGTONE" does not appear.

am i doing it right or is there another way?

    thanks.

    finally figured it out.

Now somewhere in a previous post i noticed someone mentioned its possible to replace the snapshot audio file... so when u take pictures, it plays silent...

anyone know what file it is to replace and instructions to do so ?

You can turn off the lights by painting the bulb black, or you can flip the switch.
