Why is voicemail so expensive ($7!) ?

I have to have the voice mail that tells you when you have a message but it Rogers charges me 7 bones a months. I think that is waaay to steep. I am a long time customer and was wondering if anyone has been able to get a break on this by talking to CS.

    Thanks

that's what i was thinking this morning, the worst part is that i need voice mail because the gsm coverage isn't as good as my 8260 in the house.

Are you sure you still get the notification with the basic vm, I asked a CSR about this last week and he said that notification is only on the enhanced vm.

    Thanks

the voice mail suck in rogers, not even the price, they always record someone hand up, like I always just hear people hand up, i suggest should record the message if the message have at least 5 sec. but not one sec.

the $4 vm is no different than the $7...

i get everything i did with the $7 one...of course i don't really save many msgs...so i guess the difference would be how many u can save...

but notification is there...so is custom greeting...

from what i know, i think you can only get the $4 vm on tdma and not on a gsm phone...since on the online enchance service update, only the $7 vm was there...

yeah, i'm pretty sure that is the consensus.

which is why satoshi probably noticed that rogers won't let anyone on GSM subscribe to basic voicemail anymore... but come on... $7... THAT'S EXPENSIVE!

I managed to get the $4.00 voice mail when I activated my C332 Ready4U last month. Have they had a recent change in policy? Also is the voice mail plus text messaging $7.00 package still available to all GSM users? I still have this package available to me on-line if I want it.

This is just a thought... I'm not sure if it will work.

Call CS, tell them you want to switch to TDMA. Give them the ESN of an old phone you have somewhere, or ask maybe somebody can help you find a dummy ESN. At the same time, ask them to switch you to $4 voicemail.

Wait about an hour, then call back in and tell them that the phone doesn't seem to work and you'd like to switch back to GSM. They should just give you your old plan (now with $4 VM) on GSM.

Please feel free to point out any holes in my master plan! heh heh..
