OBEX is a protocol, file transfer is a profile. All of the profiles we're used to with VZW PDAs are there.

    The OBEX info is confusing.

    Data synchronization requires OBEX.

Perhaps they have implemented some kind of partial OBEX?

I'd leave this to others to analyze further.

It doesn't look like it will have EVDO either. It looks like I'll be waiting for the next Treo with Palm OS Cobalt 6.1 and EVDO.

    650 Release...

I spoke to my govt. rep for Verizon and he was told in a meeting today that it will be released in the next two weeks!

"Just keep pushin users to use GIN, and users will keep moving to GSM."

Cingular is considering using BREW (the underlying Get It Now! platform) as well. It's not a CDMA-specific thing.

Speaking strictly about the phonebook synch between cars and phones, some cars only need a phone with Object Push Profile (BMW) while others need Object Exchange (Prius). The OPP phones take a while to synch, however the OBEX phones do it in a few seconds.

So I don't know if all types of data synch require OBEX.

Stopped at my local VZW store yesterday with a copy of the web page.
Of course, none of them knew anything.
But the first day they get a 650, it's mine.

All i wanna be able to do is make calls type sms and check my emails. a pda plan fo 50 bucks....cmon thats still ridiculous.

on another note so if i take a picture with this device and i wish to transfer to another of my devices i have to pay vzw to do this? surely thats illegal. i own my device. i own the picture. the are keeping it in prison i tell yah.

no, you could just email it to yourself if you are on the unlimited data plan... no charge.

in fact, you could email yourself ANY file... not just photos.

i agree, it's stupid and ridiculous... verizon is wrong... however, it's almost just as easy to email it to yourself, and if you have ulimited data plan... it doesn't use airtime or cost anything extra.

but yes, i wish verizon would stop screwing around
