Can't get BitPim to work on desktop

I got it to work on my Laptop just fine, but it won't work on my desktop. I installed both the same exact way, but Bitpim is only check the Com ports that the cable is NOT connected to. I can't figure out how to get Bitpim to look for the cable on the RIGHT com ports. The cable is currently on Com5. Bitpim will look only @ Com1 and 2. Once I change the cable to a say Com2, it will look for the cable @ Com1 and Com5.

    just a guess, but.

it's likley the bios or windows

go to control panel and hardware devices

and see if you have any unused interupts, that the drivers can use for the new com port

what with web cams, printers, scanners, burners, dvd, cable modems, wireless whatis's ,

some systems don't have the resources for another gadget..

it doesn't have anythng to do with memory.. but with allocation of processsor time

this is just a guess not a certified diagnois
