    Specifically, what kind of 3.5mm female jack did you use? It 2 wires coming from it...

    Sorry, i meant that as a statement, not a question.

    I know that is possible i'm wondering why he thinks it needs a special headset to do that

    photos of mod!

    hello there!
    would anyone be able to post a couple of close up photos of the inside bits of a moded headset? ive got a sony k750 and gonna have a go at modding the headset this weekend! would be awesome to have a little guidance on how to do it!

    I've done the HS-3 mod following the excellent pictorial step-by-step guide produced by Stewart Bamford. Although he uses an HDS-3 headset, the HS-3 is essentially the same (above the microphone bit at least!)

    It does require some soldering skills but is really easy. Basically you cut off the ear phones at a point above the microphone (in the guide he leaves a long length behind, I snipped mine so that it is as short as Chinman's HS-3 mod) and there are 2 wires inside each headphone lead: red and copper for the right channel and green and copper for the left. You just connect all the wires to their respective points in the jack and voila! The only thing to be aware of is that the wries are coated to electrically insulate them, so you need to strip them somehow. I used a penknife to scrape the coating off.
