Australia Networks & Need Recommendation for Pre-Paid Wireless Provider

I am going to Australia and wanted to ask two questions:
    (1) They use 900/1800, correct?
    (2) Can anyone recommend a wireless provide who does pre-paid wireless on the 1800 network?
    Thanks

No carrier in Australia is 1800 based, the big 3 GSM carriers are all 900 with 1800 used in CBD's or other high traffic areas, you will need a phone that does 900.

I recommend Vodafone, they seem to have good coverage around the major cities, and they are cheaper than Optus and Tel$tra. Calls back to the US are $3 aus per 10 min.

EasyMobiles offer international SMS at the same rate as national ones and some of their plans don't have contracts, so might be worth checking out... www.easymobiles.com.au
