    Logo and picture message FAQ

Operator logos are 72 X 14 pixel images usually in two colour. The format to upload logos can be either .bmp, .nlm or .nol.

Logos can be either downloaded over the air as an SMS or can be uploaded to your handset with a data cable and appropriate software such as Logomanager <www.logomanger.co.uk> which is a shareware program or a program called Logoexpress which is freeware. Alternate logos are stored in the phone and will only show when you are in the area covered by the MNC (mobile network code) for that area.

Picture messages are 72 X 28 pixel images usually in two colour. The format to upload picture messages can be either .bmp, .nlm or.nol. Picture messages can also be used as "screen savers" and can be uploaded to your phone either over the air or with a data cable and software such as Logomanager. Picture messages are not network dependant.

Network logos' display is dependant on having the correct mobile network code (MNC.) If you don't have the correct network chosen for either receiving over the air or through a cable your logo will not display.

Known Issues If your logo will not display on your Nokia handset there may be at least a couple of reasons why it will not display. If you have chosen the wrong network it will not display. If the firmware on your handset is old the logo may not display. Also certain models of Nokia handsets appear to have problems displaying alternate logos. Among these are the Nokia 8290 and Nokia 7190. For T-Mobile if you have one of the newer EONS SIMs the logo may not display. Another possible reason that your logo will not display may be due to the SIM card that your handset uses. Some SIM cards appear to not allow you to change the logo. This is reported to be a problem with some Fido SIM cards with a numeric sequence containing "414" and some Cingular SIM cards appear to not be able to change the logo. Also transfer of logos to either Rogers/AT&T or AT&T Wireless does not seem to work either because AT&T is blocking changing of logos or for some other reason.
