I want to swap an iPhone 15 with eSIM on Verizon postpaid to a Verizon prepaid line. And use an iPhone 12 instead on that Verizon postpaid line.
This used to be easy before when it was all physical SIMs. But now with iPhones being eSIM only, I'm not sure how to do the same swap and whether it'd mess with any trade-in bill credits I'm receiving for the iPhone 15.
Device changes remove bill credits. You can swap devices without fees if they were both active on the same postpaid plan and you are switching the lines around. I don’t know if this just waives activation/upgrade fees or if bill credits still apply.
Prepaid to postpaid are two separate accounts.
Are you sure pSIM to eSIM would kill the bill credits? I switched an iPhone on my plan from pSIM to eSIM (same device) prior to international travel, and I would have noticed if the bill credits had stopped. Might be worth a chat with a CSR.

Canceling, changing plans or processing an upgrade on a line with bill credits would cause them to stop. Changing sims or devices should not, and it never has for me.
I confirmed with Verizon that you're right. As long as you keep the line active which has the device payments and trade-in bill credit, they don't care on what line or account the phone is used. It'd just have to stay on the Verizon network for the first 90 days as the phone is still locked to Verizon during that time.
