Activate Phone Without A Plan?

I bought a tracfone a while back and I do not remember if I bought a (small) plan with it. Can i activate the phone not knowing if there is a prepaid plan with it? The phone is more than 3 months old so there is no record of it in my account. What happens if I activate it and there are no min, txt and data. Will I still get a phone number?

If you active a phone that doesn't come with any airtime, TF web site will ask you to buy a time card or provide a time card PIN.
