    No Tracfone Data Connection

    I was on chat with Tracfone Tech support and they tried everything. SIM card removal, APN settings, shutting on and off phone yet I cannot get data connected with my Moto G Pure. The Tracfone agent was stumped as well. I gave her my IMEI number and the ICCID number and there was still nothing they could do on their end. My phone just can't connect to Data for some odd reason.

    My first instinct is to just try getting another phone with them, but I don't trust Tracfone anymore because this has happened before and it's annoying. Can anyone recommend another good pay as you go service? I don't need voice phone as i'm hearing impaired so I only need data connection for internet and text and 1 to 2 GB is more than enough per month for me.

    I see Tello is really cheap but I never heard of them.

    Tello is an excellent MVNO that runs on the T-Mobile network.

    Was data working before, is the apn toggled on.

    Tello is on T-Mobile network.

    APN is toggled on but the Tracfone agent checked everything and said the data should connect so who knows what the problem is. She even got me to read off the numbers on the SIM card. This has happened before with them (APN disconnected the last time) so even if it winds up connecting, I think it's time to try another carrier.

    I think i'll just get an unlocked Moto Pure from Amazon (the one I have is locked to Tracfone) and go with Tello tomorrow. I just can't take any more of these data issues with Tracfone. And if Tello is recommended by people here, I feel ok to try them out.

    I assume that your Tracfone is using Verizon sim. What is the name of the APN? If it is not VZWINTERNET, try editing the apn Name and changing it to that.

    Under APN in Settings it says this:

    Tracfone Internet (and the toggle light is on)....Then directly underneath it, it says this:

    TRACFONE.VZWENTP

    I will edit it to say what you wrote above and see if it helps.

    When I edit it to VZWINTERNET it automatically reverts back to what it originally said. I give up with this crap company. Life is too short to waste it on this. They lost a customer and Tello will gain one.

    After you change it, the 3 dots on top right, save.
    Then put in and out of airplane mode,
    You should see the LTE go bold.

    Have you done a network settings reset (soft reset), removed & reinstalled the SIM, or considered a hard reset where everything is reset back to factory settings (that would erase data, files, photos, so you would need to back up your data to Google Drive).

    Is there a setting overlooked anywhere in some obscure location? Battery saver, permissions, or could it be location, a temporary local issue with the tower data being down?

    I've had weird spurious data issues before with TF-VZ where it was slug slime slow and then started working again. Sometimes I get Out of Service warnings on my TF-VZ SIMs. Reboot or soft (network)reset seems to fix it.

    I transferred service from a Moto e6 because it wouldn't do 4g here in the city after doing it in the mountains.

    The LTE finally went bold when I followed those instructions so I thought that fixed it but it's still saying no internet connection on all websites, yet it says "Connected/LTE" when I press the Internet button. So I don't know what the heck is going on.
    Tracfone website says I have 456MB of data so I can't be empty of that. I'm at a loss...but the LTE light did go bold and it SAYS i'm connected....could it be an outage on Tracfone's part?!

    Tried restarting it twice and still no connection though it still shows LTE as bold at the top of the screen and "Connected/LTE" when I press the Internet option.     I'm contacting Tello tomorrow. BTW if I want more info on them, do I just go over to the T Mobile board and ask since it's under their company? Their cheapest phone is called NUU and i've never heard of it. I don't know if I should just stick with the Moto Pure that I like and get that unlocked on Amazon or just get the NUU on Tello website.

    It says

    What happens when I call the number? Do they ask for payment or anything to unlock it?

    I just called and the recording said a 35 min wait for a rep. So I assume you have to talk to a live person. I'll call back in the morning and see what comes of it. I really like my Moto Pure so if I can easily unlock this and use it for Tello, that would be great!
