And also in the list is:

    313100
    &
    Extended

    I don't know what those 2 are?
Once you put the new sim in it, it will configure the APN on its own.

Power off, insert sim Power on

I entered the number and it said Unlocked! Thanks everyone for the help. I had no idea I could do this and I saved $$ buying a new phone! It's much appreciated! I'm going to go ahead and order the Tello plan now. $11/month for 2GB and unlimited text is a really good deal.

I hate having to change my number after all these years but it's a small price to pay.

After you try Tello, and it works for you, you can contact them to port in your trac number.
As long as the trac account is still active.

Come back then and will help you get the info you need.

Thanks, I will do that....but if the new number is easy to remember I may just wind up keeping it. I just ordered the plan and sim card---said delivery in 3 to 5 transit days, so i'm hoping i'll have it by the end of the week.

Thanks all for the invaluable help! As you can tell i'm a phone novice and these boards are such a help for phone dorks like me haha.

You did good. Put that Trac sim in an envelope or something, you’ll need it if you decide to port your number out.

This might be too late but you can use code 15OFFAFF in your cart for a discount for the first month.

Thanks, i'll be sure to keep that TF sim in a safe place.

Thanks for the code. I had already made the order so it was too late, but hopefully it can help someone else who sees it. With the $11/month cheapo plan I chose, it would have only saved me a buck 65 anyway so I don't feel too bad missing out on it.

I use Tello. Their procedure is to start out with one of their phone numbers to get everything lined up. They are very efficient. Then you are welcome to port in another number, using the same sim. The quality of the operation is the polar opposite of Tracfone.

A couple of other things about Tello:
-It's very easy to port in later, in fact that's the way they also do it. So if you want to keep your current number, that should be easy to do.

-You can roll your unused data and minutes if you manually renew a day early. So let's say at the end of the first month, you've used 75 minutes and 1GB of data, go into your account prior to the automatic renewal and click renew. Your remaining 25 minutes and 1GB of data will roll to the next month, giving you a total of 125 minutes and 3GB of data.

-It's extremely easy to change between plans each month. So if you there is a month you need more data, you can pick a higher plan. Or if you start rolling a lot of data, you can drop down to the 1GB plan for a month or two.

That's really good to know. When I did a search yesterday on different pay as you go plans and Tello came up, it was the first time i've ever heard of it, but the advice here eased my worries especially since their prices are so crazy low. I almost thought it was some kind of scam company to stay away from.
And if they're the polar opposite of Tracfone, I think i'll be happy with them because lately the service with TF has been really spotty and unreliable with me. I don't know if it's the company or my service area that's affected. Either way, it's time to try another service.

With Tracfone, i'd buy a 1GB data card for 10 bucks which would last me a little over a month so having 2GB for $11/month is really a great deal for me and I doubt i'd ever use the whole 2GB so having the unused GB rolling over to the next month is great because I know i'll be building that up over time.

I never use the phone due to hearing loss so those minutes are going to pile up. With Tracfone, I currently have 21,000 minutes racked up lol. They've built up over the years whenever i'd buy a new phone with the free minutes included. That's 350 hours of talk time that i'll never use. It's too bad I can't sell them like airline miles.

You can try selling the phone with the minutes on Ebay. The length of remaining service time is more valuable than the number of minutes, because someone who uses a lot of minutes in a short time span would be better off paying for an unlimited plan than buying 21,000 minutes.

My TF service goes until 4/9/27, but I didn't know it could transfer to someone else. In order to use that service, they'd have to use my TF account right? But I guess since it's pay as you go there should be no worries if I just delete all my payment methods on the account.

I love my phone but now i'm wondering how much those 4 years of service could be worth to Ebay buyers.

Tello used to be a Sprint MVNO. So you would not have likely heard of Tello if you had concentrated on Tracfone.

But now there is a lot more information available to see how Tracfone is not worth its flakiness.

With Tello rollover, you must renew ahead of the auto-renew. If you let it auto-renew, it will start over at the base amount. So you will have to be diligent in order to keep your stockpile. You can arrange for a reminder of the date.

Thanks, that's good to know ahead of time and i'll be sure to refill ahead of it. I never use auto pay anyway for my bills because I hate them and prefer to manually pay my bills when, or if, I feel like it lol.
