Anyone notice you only get spam calls or fraud calls if you use your phone as a actual phone mostly?

It seems to always not fail. Like if someone just called me or I talked to someone hours or about a day later a spam/fraud call will come through. Of course it never works because I have a 100% way to get rid of it. I just see the log of them.

Can anyone who works in the wireless industry explain why this is the case or is it not the reason and just a coincidence ?

I haven't noticed that I get more spam if I use my phone for calls.

My spam burden is fairly low right now, but I do notice an increase in spam phishers if I activate a phone or transfer service (number) from one phone to another.

Because I don't answer phishing attempts, only numbers on my contact list, if the calls are ignored it usually reduces the number of spammers.

I read somewhere that if someone activates a phone number, that fact or list of new activations becomes available to people who like to phish. I don't know where or how that might be the case but I did read it somewhere a long time ago. I don't see how anyone would know if you've made a telephone call.

No no no spammers and scammers do not know you made a phone call it just gets in my opinion of course higher to the random list of phone numbers to call somehow. Do not ask me how because I know nothing about this technology or how it works.

I think the phishers have an autodialing system and everyone gets hit. However if someone answers those spam calls it prioritizes the number for getting another call because it proves somebody owns that number.

Another method for them to get people's contact information is whenever a person signs up for email such as mailing lists at websites.

Or, when an application is installed on the phone from the Google Play Store or any source.

The Google Play Store indicates on the page that lists the application what sort of user information is shared and that shows that some of them are giving out personal information that Phishers can use.

I'm not sure how far the snooping goes with applications that gather information and share it with third parties. It may extend to accessing the contact list on a person's phone and then they spam them as well. That's why it's dangerous to give excessive permissions to these applications for access to everything on the phone.
