I usually Google the phone name then specs. I always find sites that state the back material.

I had an LG VX60 that was a great phone but I had no idea the back was made of glass. it is hopelessly broken and disintegrated while i put a protector on the screen and that is fine. Don't want to repeat this mistake but unless i'm looking at a phone that I can go see on a shelf somewhere, I can't find a specification/comparison site that lists what the back of the phone is made out of. thanks

Good answer Serial Port. That was helpful.
Glass backs should be outlawed. Total money grab.
There's no practical reason for a glass back.
Gorilla Glass backs are more expensive than plastic backs. I'd rather manufacturers spend the saved money on more RAM.
I agree to.
