Activation popups persist on unbranded S22+ after activating AT&T Prepaid

    Hi,
I have been using my phone with other carriers and decided to switch to ATT Prepaid. The phone is the unlocked /unbranded version SM-906U1

Whenever I reboot phone, I get a popup, sometimes before logging in with passcode , sometimes right after - "refer to quick start guide for activation instructions" - once in awhile, not always I also get a popup "USSD code failed"

I wonder if that is an automatic USSD code designed to deactive the activation popup

    CSR was of no help

Just curious, what is the exact model # (not just S22+) and who did you use it with previously? Keep in mind that if At&t didn't sell that exact model, they may not be able to fully troubleshoot. If you don't get an answer here, you might want to contact Samsung directly. Good luck and please update us with any results that you achieve.

IMHO, when dealing with prepaid CS, you aren't dealing with the sharpest tools in the shed. I suspect you could have a bad SIM card in the phone.
    Just another day in paradise.....

Model is SM-S906UZGE / SM-S906U1 I used it with Visible, I have TMO on eSim

I also keep getting "Send USSD failed" - maybe its trying to send a code to undo the prepaid popup

Where was it first purchased from (not necessarily where it was first used)? I'm not sure what provider had a model called SM-S906UZGE, but just because it is unlocked doesn't mean it becomes a U1 version (unless the seller used Samsung KIES to load the U1 firmware). It might still have the original provider's modified firmware.

Also, check that the model name and IMEI from the phone's settings are on AT&T's whitelist.

try inserting a non AT&T prepaid sim (AT&T Postpad sim) into the phone and see if the message goes away - https://forums.att.com/conversations...07c542b?page=1 if that doesn't work then try getting a new sim (see page 2)

It is from Best Buy bought new unlocked . The unlocked s22 is on ATT whitelist for sure. Customer service verified my IMEI It is definitely a U1 version, I have the original box, I can verify the firmware and model in settings

The issue only occurs with AT&T sim. I have verified. No popup with other carrier sims.

I know that when switching SIMs (carriers) with newer Samsung phones, it will briefly start up (as you have experienced) and then display a message something along the lines of "loading new carrier settings" and then it will automatically reboot. I don't know what about the SIM triggers the reconfigure.

Does the SIM have a phone number and plan assigned to it? Does it work in another phone? Maybe that is the "activation" that the phone is waiting for (so it could re-provision properly). I wonder if some other already activated SIM on AT&T or an AT&T MVNO would boot up normally.

Perhaps the CSR did not activate the SIM correctly, in which case the advice about getting a new SIM (and transferring the line to it) would be the best way to go.
