    Yes definitely good news!!

Also, evidently CS was wrong about only having 8GB rollover when I asked. I guess they were still basing rollover on the 8 + 8 plan. . . .

I just got the message posted today on my Prepaid Homepage. Says during next renewal I will get double data. Does anybody know is this a promotion or a permanent data increase for all of us?

If you read what I posted above earlier today from the AT&T Prepaid website, it seems like it's permanent.

The $300/year plan is available only "when you activate a new line".

So, while it appears that now all new and existing $300 plan users will be getting 16GB/30-days, it might still require a port out and then port in for existing AT&T customers to move from a different AT&T plan to the $300 plan...

Is Anyone Else Seeing 16GB For Their Legacy $300 Plan?

I received this text about an hour and a half ago.

Hi, it's AT&T. Your data has renewed and 16GB was added to your account. Your payment due on 07/01/2023 will be $300 for 12 months.

From my account on their website:

    Details

Your 12-Month Plan will now have double the data -- 16 GB of high-speed plan data included each month. You don't need to do a thing, your plan's included data will increase automatically at your next monthly plan renewal. Enjoy more games, movies, sports or whatever your passion is -- you deserve it! We appreciate you being an AT&T Prepaid customer.

ATT puills a solid for its existing customers!

Can you see Verizon doing that?

Actually, yes. Several years ago, my wife, both sons and I were on pure, post-paid Verizon. At the time, I wanted to switch because I had heard so many people bragging that Verizon was so much better than AT&T in coverage. It wasn't cheap, though. After taxes and fees, I was paying $171 for 4 liners. The data was limited to 8GB per line.

I was pleasantly surprised a few months into this when I received a text that all lines were being increased to 16GM per line.

(Later, when I moved us to what was then known as Total Wireless, it seems like we shared a pool of data, maybe 25 GB for four of us.)

From my perspective, it seems like Unlimited Talk and Text is almost a given on the vast majortiy of the plans these days. What really seems to differentiate them is the amount of data you get. More data equals more money.

I just paid my $300 annual renewal, which was followed by getting notice of the 16Gb data upgrade, followed by my actual monthly renewal. I just looked at my account on the web and see that it shows me with 23.2Gb available (16Gb + 7.2Gb rollover). As someone who rarely even hits 2Gb data usage, this bonus is nice but overkill in my case.

    My wife's line finally refreshed:

Plan Data (includes 6 GB Rollover Data℠)
22 GB of 22 GB Remaining

Obviously, she probably doesn't really need the full 16GB/30 days data allowance, but for only $21.38/30 days TOTAL by buying discounted refill cards, it's worth it, and she primarily uses it for the included Canada and Mexico roaming. The 100% hotspot usage of plan data might eventually come in handy, too.

I respectfully disagree. I think it's outrageous that ATT does not allow its existing customers who are on some other prepaid plan to simply switch directly to the $300/year prepaid plan. Only new customers can choose the $300/year plan. By having that sort of restriction for certain plans, ATT is treating its existing customers (many of whom have been loyal ATT customers for many years) like dirt -- which is not exactly the four-letter word that I really want to use.

I switched last year from a monthly plan. All I had to do was call customer support. It took a few tries to get someone who knew how to make the change, but eventually it worked.

I think persistence is key, along with the willingness to politely hang up and call again, until you get an agent that knows what they're doing, and is willing to do what's necessary to make the change.
