I would have to imagine that the policy was changed to help cut down on fraudulent port outs. I doubt they are trying to be difficult.

Just an FYI, Cricket is now using a port-out PIN instead of the 4-digit account PIN - I feel like there was no announcement about the change, nor is it on the app or account management site:

Agreed - so many providers are adding it, which is great for security. I also doubt any malice, mostly just that it would have been nice to know before a failed port and going in circles with the new provider. Hopefully this can help someone else down the line.
Don't get me wrong, I agree that they should have made it clearer to users prior to making such a change. Just offering my opinion on the matter. I guess those interested in porting their phone # will be better served by this thread.
Good to know. I guess this also helps with group accounts when you don't want to share the account pin with others on your account.
