"Total" has been accounted for. That just leaves Straight Talk to be tweaked. Walmart would be in on that.

What does refill through DAP mean? It says existing customers can existing customers can continue to refill in-store through DAP.
Page Plus doesn't have many stores at least out west. Only online.

i believe it stands for 'dealer activation portal'

it is possible self service activations may be available for longer, it is not unusual at all for companies to pull capabilities from dealer before eliminating them completely. such is currently the case with att and t-mobile activations on tracfone brand. can still be activated online on the websites but not at dealer locations

i do not believe any of those brands have been sold much at all in recent years

the big brands still to be addressed are simple mobile (dominating brand for tracfone in dealers) and Walmart family mobile. both are traditionally t-mobile network only brands and simple mobile is primarily a BYOD brand for which t-mobile is the most suitable network in terms of widest range of handset compatibility. it will be interesting how many stick with simple on a network migration to Verizon versus going to another option on t-mobile of which Ultra mobile probably the most likely to gain as they are also heavily dealer centric in terms of distribution.

Thanks. I've been with PagePlus forever. No stores around here so everything was always through their website. Just what to make sure I can keep going for now and no port out issues when the time comes...whenever that may be.

i would imagine the most likely outcome is you eventually get migrated to the tracfone brand, but that could be as long as several years away

The article is from an independent phone dealers publication. My guess is that DAP is something they use to refill phone services.

It remains to be seen what will happen to lines on the discontinued services for people who refill them personally.

    Thanks for the breaking news.

This comes as no surprise to me. I assumed when Verizon bought the Tracfone brands that they would consolidate/eliminate some of them.

I keep a Page Plus paygo service going. No big deal if I lose it at some point.

There is more than just Straight Talk remaining.

All of the Tracfone brands that Verizon bought:

    Tracfone Brand - Subscribers - Carrier(s) Used
    Straight Talk Wireless - 9.3 million - Verizon & AT&T
    Tracfone - 4 million - Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile
    Total Wireless - 3 million - Verizon
    SIMPLE Mobile - 2 million - T-Mobile
    Walmart Family Mobile - 1.4 million - T-Mobile
    NET10 Wireless - 1 million - Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile
Page Plus Cellular - 1 million - Verizon
    GoSmart Mobile - 0.2 million - T-Mobile
SafeLink Wireless - 9.1 million - Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile - Lifeline "Obama Phones"Phone" service. Free to the subscriber.
    Clearway Wireless Business plans

Verizon made a commitment to continue Safelink for several years.

I have 2 lines that I really have no more use for, but they go back MANY years for which I have just been adding $10 every 120 days because I did not want to lose the balance. That is hundreds of $$ that I would sure hate to lose if Verizon did not compensate in some way for it.

From that list, it's clear they're eliminating the three with the fewest subscribers. They're encouraging dealers to still sell ST and TF. And they're adjusting the branding of Total to tie it to Verizon. Similar to what T-Mobile did with Metro. Letting people know they're getting the Verizon network but at a lower price.

It makes sense to get rid of some of the brands and the overhead and maintenance that goes with it.

Hmm, might be time to figure out where to go with my parents' flip phone lines. I've had them on Page Plus for many years.
