New unlocked TF work with a RP T-Mo sim?

Anyone know if a new unlocked TF will work with a RedPocket T-mobile SIM? Or is it best to stay with a Verizon Red Pocket SIM? Probably a Samsung Galaxy A03 TF.

    TIA for any help.

I looked on gsmarena, and it says under Network that the phone doesn't have band 71, which from what I understand, is required for TMo.

So it may be best to stick to Verizon on Red Pocket.

That’s the global model. The TracFone version has all the US bands including B71:

    2G GSM
    GSM850,GSM900,
    DCS1800,PCS1900
    3G UMTS
    B1(2100),B2(1900),B4(AWS),
    B5(850),B8(900)
    4G FDD LTE
    B2(1900),B4(AWS),B5(850),
    B7(2600),B12(700),B13(700),
    B25(1900),B26(850),B66(AWS-3),
    B71(600)

I have one that I’m waiting to unlock. I just activated it recently.

Do you mean a newly unlocked Tracfone branded phone? All new TF branded phones are locked to TF service for 60 days after activation before they are eligible to be unlocked.

I'm using an unlocked TF branded Moto E6 with a T-Mo based SIM on Textnow. I have also used the Textnow SIM in an unlocked TF branded Moto E5. I expect your phone should work with Redpocket-T-Mo.

I have a Samsung S7 without band 71 and it works on Tmo with the Red Pocket sim on the Freedompop free plan.

    T-mo uses bands 2 , 4 , 5, 12 , 66, 71 , with the ones in bold being the primary bands.

Actually, 66 has supplanted 4 as a primary band. 4 is actually a subset of the frequencies of 66.

When I checked the service mode...band 66 is very commonly seen.

The article was just written in July, it's just the author just didn't have that bit correct.

But T-Mobile often has a continuous 20MHz in the band 66 frequencies that it aggregates with band 2 for its main LTE speeds.

LTE Band 71 has been more and more allocated to 5G anyway so they can brag about their 5G extended range coverage.

But for older devices, as long as it has LTE Band 2 and one is located in a generally populated area, it will work fine on T-Mobile and can get acceptable data speeds just with Band 2 alone.
