If you want to save $4.99 vs buying the "official" FP SIM from Walmart, and the need to order $35+ from Walmart to get free shipping, order the SIM using https://www.redpocket.com/shop/plans, click the GSMT tab, buy that $5 RP GSMT SIM, and then activate it at https://freedompop.com/activate when it arrives.

Ordering the "official" FP SIM from https://www.walmart.com/ip/seort/680827893 is the other option, but it will still require activation at https://freedompop.com/activate, as instructed on the package.

I received my $5 SIM from RedPocket. I now need to activate it. What is the difference between going to the RedPocket website or FreedomPop url to activate?

I don't know if the FreedomPop plans are listed on the RP activation site. https://freedompop.com/activate has been previously mentioned several times above...

I spoke with customer service at FreedomPop and they said my RedPocket SIM card can't be activated on by FreedomPop and I need to go to RedPocket. I didn't try to set up an account on FreedomPop to see if the card will activate, but based on what they said on the phone, this will not get me anywhere.

    What are your thoughts?

    Thanks.

Why did you speak with customer service at FreedomPop about the RP SIM card instead of just doing what so many others have already done and reported success?

Why would you need to set up an account as the first step instead of just validating the SIM ICCID at https://freedompop.com/activate as the first step?

They don't know that this works. We do. Just go to this site, https://freedompop.com/activate, enter the SIM, select the Free plan and set it up. I just did this with an RP SIM the other day. It works fine. No need to talk to customer service.

I entered the SIM ICCID number on FreedomPop

Under that it says "GSMT" and "GSMT SIM without a plan"

Under that it says "Sign In or Register below to get started"

Under that it says "Your username" and it populates a 10 digit number.

Under that it asks for a "Password"

Under that "I am not a robot"

Under that I need to "Sign In" or "Register"

    Now what?

I entered the SIM ICCID#. It validates, but there is no place to select the Free Plan.

On that same page, it says:

"Activate your card in 3 easy steps"

"Enter your ICCID number, Sign In or Register, and get your plan."

Click Register after you enter a password. Then I believe on the next screen you scroll down until you see the Free Plan. I think there were three or four plans to choose from, but you'll see the Free Plan as one of them. Then at some point it gets your credit card information. I live in a state that it doesn't charge taxes for, so I didn't get charged. Then the plan should be active.

Looks like I am set up! I too had to give my credit card and like yourself, no tax so I did not get charged.

In my account details it shows that it is a 30-day plan, 300 minutes, 1,000 messages, and 100MB data. It also shows a renewal date of 11/05/2022 and it says, "reoccurring subscription has been activated".

Do I need to renew/recharge the minutes on 11/05/2022, or will it automatically be done with a $0.00 charge?

That's great you got setup. I haven't went through a renewal period yet, but from what I've read, it looks like its done automatically with a $0.00 charge.

It did in fact renew automatically.

While no big deal, the only issue that I do not understand is when I look at my account on FreedomPop, it shows that I have 290 minutes remaining in this cycle. My phone has been off since this period began on 11/04/2022. Where did the 10 minutes go to?

See, the recent post on the main FreedomPop thread. There's a report that unanswered calls are getting deducted, even if the phone is off.
