OK, I really like my X. However it seems that if I have less than 3 bars the call/text doesn’t get through. Is the X just “optimistic” about the signal strength or what? Is this a shortcoming of the X?
I think the issue is with your carrier, rather than your phone. Truphone had been using 3G (HSPA) connections, rather than VoLTE calls/texts. Now that T-Mobile and AT&T are shutting down 3G, there isn't much usable signal for call/texts left. If you can't get Truphone to activate VoLTE, you may have to find another carrier.
As I said, I don't think it is your phone, it is that the Truphone SIM (and your account) had not been set up for VoLTE (even if your phone is). Give Truphone a call and request your SIM and account be updated for VoLTE access.
