first responders should be on FirstNet that was the whole point of the auction. at&t gets extra spectrum to use yet all these first responders are on Verizon's network using up already limited bandwidth. they should be using the network specifically designed for it

I continue to assign the blame for the USA's cellular network congestion to the DoD, NIMBYs, local governments, landlords, FCC, and Congress, and in that order.

• The DoD is hoarding a MASSIVE amount of spectrum despite spectral efficiency having skyrocketed since they initially estimated how much spectrum they actually need. They're being wasteful and greedy. That entire department is a bloated, inefficient mess and an ongoing parasite on our country's resources.
• NIMBYs, as we all know, Karen it up when the carriers try to densify.
• Local governments all just HAVE to have their own little special rules for the construction of new cell sites, making the process take YEARS despite cellular network data usage trends changing much faster than that — by the time a carrier has finally gotten a new site completed, their choice of location is based on data that is now multiple years out of date.
• Landlords are almost as bad as local governments, each demanding their own special little deal for usage of their land.
• The FCC is too spineless to confront spectrum hoarders and too busy infighting to get much real work done. Why haven't they meaningfully addressed the CBRS power limits? Why haven't they moved forward with the process of getting Congress to reauthorize their authority over the USA's radio spectrum? Why haven't they done any real oversight on the carriers' continuing failures to stop spam calls, as well as oversight on the carriers' theft of hundreds of billions of dollars intended to fund the construction of truly nationwide fiber optic Internet service.
• Congress has also failed to conduct proper oversight of the carriers, to pass bills mandating spectrum forfeiture from the DoD, and to reauthorize the FCC's spectrum authority. They're too busy being deadlocked over culture war nonsense that should have been long since settled.

Agree. Part of it is power trip. Also they should totally get off CBRS and have that spectrum be a the same power level as C-band. Also whenever 3.1-3.45 get auctioned and if the DoD gets and the hell off CBRS the spectrum from 3.1-3.98 should be re-allocated where all current owners have contiguous spectrum and all the remaining DoD CBRS spectrum gets auctioned

Some of the delays are also caused by wireless carrier incompetence. Verizon Wireless in my local area got their permit denied since they did not provide the needed information to calculate wind/weight load which is critical since no one wants a cellular tower falling down due to the calculation not being properly calculated/done. This is basic information that Verizon Wireless should have known to include to get their permits approved. In addition to that they have not responded/corrected the issue and it will be a year since that happened soon and according to public record they have not responded/provided the information in order to get their permit evaluated/approved. I do not know what is going on internally at Verizon Wireless but it seems to be pure incompetence at its finest and customers are leaving them.

My vote is for this one. Add to the $400B the article discusses another roughly $100B in the current 2021 American Rescue plan and misc. other grants for broadband. Remember the promise, broadband for everyone. My area was suppose to get fiber after the 2009 American Recovery Act with funds to CenturyLink. Never happened. CenturyLink got the money but directed it elsewhere; no government oversight. Now here we go again with more $ in 2021.
The only thing I've seen funds spent on is things like EBB addressing affordability where broadband already exists. Nothing for availability where it doesn't.
