Happy to report that after initially downgrading my iPhone 11, WCT paid the amount from the initial offer.

So WCT downgraded your phone condition to fair and then you said no to the offer and send my phone back and then they contacted you and said ok we will pay the original offer $227?

Seems like their new tactic now. Downgrade, and pay a higher price if you stand your ground and ask for the phone back.

    Well. I told you so.

I have been saying that these resellers are all sc*mbags. Sooner or later they all try to cheat you. Correction - sooner or later they all cheat you.

Mark my words, Trademore is going the same way. Correction - Trademore has already gone the same way.

Don't sell to a reseller if you think they're all sc*mbags. They've served my purpose of unloading extra phones.

Yes. As I posted earlier, when they received my phone they had no record of the order and asked what they quoted. After I told them $257, they downgraded to $153. I pushed back saying (a) it should at least be "good" condition and (b) fair was $164 when I placed the order, but they replied that the offer prices had changed for the categories. I asked them to send it back and started a trade in with Apple for $195. After two days, I asked for the tracking number. They responded that it had not yet shipped, but that they would pay the initial offer. I think I got lucky due to all the issues they are having.

Thank you for posting this! I finally got the shipping box from them and have been debating whether to send them my last IPhone 11. I’m fairly certain they will pull this same tactic on me since I also had the $257 offer.

To be fair to WCT, the phone I sent them was not a refurb recently received from Tracfone. It was the 11 that my college kid has been using daily for almost 3 years.

Thanks for the additional info. A phone used by a college kid for almost 3 years is likely not in Flawless condition, and battery life must have some degradation too.

When we are sending devices to the resellers we have to be honest with the condition of the device. A device used for 3 years by a student cannot be said to be in flawless (like new) condition! It's reasonable to assume it's in fair condition. At best it can only be in 'good' condition. Both seller and reseller has to be truthful to each other so that we don't spoil the market for everyone else.

By WCT's own description, it was between good and flawless. The biggest issue with the phone was battery capacity, which was not part of WCT's criteria, the way it is on BuyBackBoss. I was confident it met Apple's criteria for $195 payout which was my backup plan.

What is usually the turnaround period for BuyBackBoss? Guessing they don't count weekends.

BBB now showing over $300 for a new in box iphone 11. Still a few weeks for me to go before mine unlocks so on pins and needles to lock in a price with the two week period they offer.

My one trade in to BuyBackBoss was several months ago, but they took a week and a half. They received the phone on 3/27, evaluated it on 4/5 after I emailed asking about it, and paid on 4/6.
