    Using 5G phone on PuppyWireless??

    Hi,
When I asked tech support at Puppy Wireless if i can use my new 5G iphone 13mini with their service, they said

"We Are Not Supporting Any Devices With 3G Or 5G Bands. We Are Only Supporting 4G HD Voice-Capable Verizon Unlocked Devices, Once You Purchase A New Device, You Need To Provide Us With The IMEI Number Of That Device. We Will Check The Compatibility Of That Device And Update Your Account."

I was under the impression that a 5G device is backward compatible as in it can also use 4G network. So, why would they say a 5G phone cannot be used?
    Your advice appreciated.
    Thanks
    Theodore

Don't have an answer to your question, but I have read about other MVNOs having problems activating 5G phones on their networks. They advertise themselves as accepting 5G phones, and then when you go to activate those phones, you run into problems that are difficult and time-consuming to solve.

So if we're looking for silver linings - at least in your case, they are warning customers before hand! Seems better than advertising unworkable 5G.

The funny thing is, I can still log in at mypuppywireless.com with the credentials I had back from when Kitty started / owned PW and gave me a free trial in 2014. My old phone # and everything is still visible in the dashboard.

    PuppyWireless plans

The PuppyWireless plans as of today June 28, 2022 (graphic attached below).

I'm just about ready to bail out. I've been with Puppy Wireless since it was KittyWireless, and even back when Kitty was reselling PagePlus & she had her own very active message forum.

But I'm getting really annoyed now because MyPuppyWiress regularly cuts off legit prepaid service for some hours every month on plan renewal day. Super terrible since some secure websites require 2FA via SMS, but of course because the Puppy service drops around midnight central time on monthly renewal day, I am locked out of sites I need to log into. Plus I can't make calls, text, or use data, which can be physically dangerous if I get stuck in the city.

When I try to place a voice call a recorded message says; "Welcome To SelectTel. Our hours are 7am to 7pm central time". (It's midnight CST) And who even is SelectTel? Maybe they bought PuppyWireless? I dunno, first I've ever heard of them. Anyway, they have a problem, and its def not from exceeding the data plan, nor a payment problem (autopay went through days ago).

Selectel Wireless has been discussed on HoFo in the past, but not really any issues or many users recently. It is a good service, my sister uses it.

Same here. I was with Kitty back in Pageplus days, then Kitty, and then Puppy Wireless for many years, but finally moved on a little over a year and half ago. I was on their lifetime membership plan and then they stopped honoring it. I ended up ultimately moving because they couldn't activate my 5g phone and also realized it was just too hard to deal with them, being a small company. There was always this deal where they would suspend cell service if you ran out of data, but had text and voice still in your plan - I fought them for years on it, as it should have just deactivated data but instead they turned off all services. When I started looking at options, I realized their plans were not so great after all at this point compared to current providers. For me, the Verizon Prepay plans are a better deal too once you are with them for awhile nad get their loyalty discounts and simple to deal with at this point. I pay like $25 for 5gb data and when that is used up, it still runs at a slower data stream.
