Question AT&T Prepaid device unlock error ?

AT&T Prepaid device unlock error ?
    ============================================

Thanks for replies to my posting.

I have an AT&T prepaid phone used with MVNO for 6+ months.

I tried to submit unlock device request via AT&T unlock portal.

As I did have service via MVNO , I provided IMEI. It throw the following:

Looks like the device you want to unlock is active on another AT&T account. The owner has to remove it from their account first. Did we get that wrong? If you're the owner, call 800.331.0500 or 611 from your mobile phone to confirm.
When I call the number & talk with rep, they say I need to ask my current MVNO to do unlock device.

It is not making sense. MVNO do not have a clue about device unlock.

How do I work this out ?

    Thanks for sharing.

You need to use an AT&T Prepaid phone on AT&T for 6 months before AT&T will unlock it. Using it on an MVNO doesn't count.

I know we all know YesWap knows what's up, but I'll just reiterate that he's correct.

RIMDHoward, I really thought you were part of the discussion about this before (but I could be wrong).

An AT&T Prepaid phone must be used on AT&T Prepaid for 6 months to be eligible for unlock, unless it's a really old phone, like from the LG Phoenix 2 era.

    Thanks for weighing in.

I did google for A02S unlock. I find many links like

    https://theunlockcode.net/unlock-sam...axy-a02s-free/

How to unlock Samsung Galaxy A02s free

    https://unlockclerk.com/unlock-samsu...axy-a02s-free/

How are they doing unlock, if AT&T has usage restriction attached to the Device?

Did anyone from this forum use the above options to unlock device?

    Thanks for sharing.

AFAIK there are no free unlock codes for any phone made in the last 4 years.

Many of the random unlocking sites that show up in web search results are scams that give you a free code that doesn't work then take your money for a paid code that doesn't work either and then ghost you when you ask for a refund.

If you are willing to pay for an unlock, eBay is the safest, you can usually get your money back for unlocks that don't work. Search eBay for "Network unlock Samsung A02s", pick a vendor with high (98%+) feedback and read the service's instructions and requirements carefully to be sure they apply to the specific model of your phone. Be aware that some unlocks require the phone be activated on the carrier it's locked to.

Also beware some unlock vendors need control of your pc to perform the unlock via TeamViewer.
I will be Judged on how I helped the poor, sick & others in need; strangers & loved ones alike.

    My plans:
Visible (Verizon) UTT & Unlimited Data $25/mo
    T-Mobile Gold Rewards $10yr exp 01.03.23

I think I remember reading that some person or persons were arrested for “stealing” thousands of dollars from phone companies by selling unlock codes. From what I’ve read, a lot of these services pay people that work for the company to give them unlock codes. Maybe with this arrest, these guys have had to cool it for a while.
