Thread: legacy gold rewards. Refill expiration now adds just 3 months instead of 1 year. Anyone else?

I added $10 via refill card pin to a Legacy Pay As You Go account. The use by date increased to 1 year from today, so Jan 26 2023.

This morning I unblocked then blocked SMS on one of the lines, and the expiration date was changed for that line to today + 3 months.

So, just changing a feature will reset expiration date to (date of change + 3 months).

Do not bother chatting on the T-Mobile website, because you will eventually be asked to call prepaid directly.
    Instead, call ‪(877) 778-2106‬, then 0 for a representative.

The CSR came back after asking his supervisor, saying that they were just collecting all the affected phone numbers.
They are not even creating individual tickets because so many customers have this problem.
I just want to update what has happened.

On 2/25/22, I unblocked and blocked SMS, so my expiration date became 5/25/22.
    I called (877) 778-2106, and a ticket was created / escalated.
But the CSR did it reluctantly, arguing that I could have just paid $1.

On 3/25/22, I unblocked and blocked SMS, but my expiration date stayed at 5/25/22.
I called again, and the CSR promised to stay on top of it and have it resolved.
Now one week later, my expiration date was still 5/25/22.

Today 4/1/22 I just unblocked and blocked SMS, expecting my expiration date to stay at 5/25/22.
For one line, after unblocking, my expiration date became 7/1/22.
For another line, after unblocking, it stayed at 5/25/22, but (in another browser) after blocking it also became 7/1/22.

I guess I will keep unblocking and blocking SMS, or just pay the $1 (+ taxes and fees).

Sorry andyk88 I don't understand. If $1 isn't adding a year why not add $10 & be done with it?
I will be Judged on how I helped the poor, sick & others in need; strangers & loved ones alike.

    My plans:
Visible (Verizon) UTT & Unlimited Data $25/mo
    T-Mobile Gold Rewards $10yr exp 12.25.23

Paying $1 did extend expiration date by one year. On 12/16/2021, I paid $1, and my expiration date became 12/16/2022.

On 1/13/2022, I unblocked SMS to authenticate a service, and my expiration date became 4/13/2022.

I normally block SMS so as not to lose money on spam texts.

I know it's just $1 (+ taxes and fees), but my expiration date should be 12/16/2022.

I'd think $1 still works to extend one year.

If by "caught on" you mean T-Mobile finally knows about the bug (that unblocking/blocking SMS messes with expiration date), I think the bug has been fixed on some, but not all, servers.

This bug has been there since August. My accounts initially had the correct expiration date, but I found out the next day that the expiration date was wrong. However, in fact the expiration date had to have been wrong right after I blocked SMS on the first day, but I did not realize it because I had not refreshed the webpage.

I am starting to wonder if this has to do with the browser (how JavaScript is processed differently).

Today 4/9 I used Firefox, and after unblocking SMS, the expiration date of both accounts became 7/9/22.

Last time, with either Opera, blocking/unblocking SMS did not mess with the expiration date.

Update: Never mind the theory. Today 4/10 I used Opera, and the expiration date of both accounts became 7/10/22.
It's almost like they undid the fix on some servers.

I added a dollar to my Legacy Gold line a few days ago and it extended the expiration date by a year and added a dollar to my balance.

I went through my phone using Chrome.

I initially was getting a server error and the transaction didn't occur.
But I refreshed a few times and added a dollar and it 'took'.

Both on the T-Mobile website through my phone and using #225# and #999# the balance and expiration date are a dollar more than before I paid the dollar and a year more than before the transaction.

I didn't do any unblocking and blocking of SMS.

My line has had texts blocked for several years. Don't want my balance to eaten away by spam.

Sent from my OnePlus Nord N10 5G

My account now has the correct expiration date.

When I chatted with T-Force to change the SIM card numbers on 4/9:
    https://www.howardforums.com/showthr...9#post17214149

The CSR actually spent far more time trying to fix the expiration date. She was not able to fix it herself, but filed "an escalation to one of our offline account teams to have them take a deeper look for us". Today I see the correct expiration date.

However, I don't know if the bug (that unblocking/blocking SMS messes with expiration date) has been fixed.

Nobody has posted on this thread since last April, so I thought I would report that I added $1.00 (+ 10 cents tax) to my Legacy Gold account and it did indeed extend my expiration date by one year to 1/7/2024.

I've had a large balance sitting in this account for a few years and I'm finally thinking about putting it to good use, either on the $10 Connect by T-Mobile plan or a $5 data-only plan if they will let me do data-only on a phone.

Yes you can. I used a Pixel 4a 5G on esim with the $50/100GB Data plan for over a year.

I want to caution everyone posting in this thread not to post your exact balance expiration dates for security reasons.

Today, I added a $1 even though my expiration wasn't until October. It moved the date to one year from today.

    It still works.
