This is the Truphone 2022 thread, used for disucssing the Truphone service. Here is the last post from the 2021 thread.
--------------------------
I have two Tru sims and tested them out yesterday (it's been a couple months since I used them).
Both of them appear to be homed to AT&T (show "R" on T-Mobile). Both of them will connect to AT&T *AND* T-Mobile. So that tells me they will work post February on T-Mobile. I was hoping to see a SIM update to enable VoLTE but Tru likely would rather have them just go away.

Battle 2021 vs 2022.
Visible (by Verizon) receive $20 off the first month. Please use referral code: 36csHv - https://www.visible.com/get/?36csHv
I will be Judged on how I helped the poor, sick & others in need; strangers & loved ones alike.
My plans:
Visible (Verizon) UTTD $25/mo
T-Mobile Gold Rewards $10yr exp 12.25.23
FreedomPop (AT&T) Target $4.99 once 100 TTD a month each 29th
One is old, one is new...just like last year.

I sent Truphone an email and they replied that they would get back to me about the shutdown after "checking in with the team"
The rep seemed unaware of the AT&T changes.
I am using my Truphone sim card in an AT&T whitelisted phone but I thought the Truphone sim cards might not support VOLTE.
That was answered in the Truphone 2021 thread.
*Is your phone on the ATT compatibilty list? (What name and model number is it?)
If not, doesn't matter which ATT mvno you go with it won't work after February unless ATT pushes out the time.
It's an ATT thing, applies to all mvno's.
I understand that it's ATT's mandate not Truphone . Just want to confirm that Truphone will still be able to work after Feb. 2022.
I move my Truphone sim between an ATT Cingular Flip and Pixel 3. Right now I have it in my iphone XR. All on the whitelist. Just hoping Truphone will support the ATT change in Feb. rather than cut their losses since they discontinued the physical sim cards
The comments didn't specifically address Truphone. My post just said it affects all ATT mvno's so don't know why Truphone wouldn't be affected too.
The other comment was just asking/saying check the ATT phone list.
But sounds like you're aware of that and your phone's are on the list. You went by the model# in addition to the model name right ?
If your phones are there I wouldn't worry about it since I wouldn't see why Truphone would be treated differently.
I don't use Truphone, but if their reps are anything like TF's I wouldn't be surprised they didn't know about the ATT compatibility thing.
I didn't read the whole Truphone thread, just the last page or so, were there any earlier comments before your post that mention anyone getting the "phone won't work" message from Tru ?
Actually Truphone is a bit different than other AT&T MVNOs.
They are a British company and the sim I believe operates sort of like an international sim card. They don't support short codes ( and I think MMS messages) and if I recall correctly their sim cards don't work in AT&T locked phones like most other AT&T MVNOs. I needed to get my AT&T Cingular Flip unlocked before I could use the Truphone sim in it.
Still waiting to hear back from Truphone on the matter. Will update if I hear back.
TruSIM is different from a typical SIM, but if they don't enable VoLTE for it, it can't work when 3G is shut down.

I wonder how things will pan out this year in Germany. Over here, Truphone roams on Vodafone. VF shut down the 3G service here in June, but the 2G GSM network is still around. I saw a few messages on the German language forums about the Apple Watch stopping to work, since Truphone only roamed on UMTS not LTE:
https://www.teltarif.de/truphone-umt...ews/85110.html
perhaps the AT&T change will finally get Truphone to move to an IMS platform.
New topic here...I've had a bit of a Truphone disaster and a lesson well learned. A week ago I fired off a support request to Truphone with the below language in it...
Hello. Is it possible to change my phone number? I am getting a LOT of
spam calls daily, five this morning alone. My current information is
below.
Mike Nassour
Truphone number 512 924 4645
To me, this seems to be a simple request for information. Instead my number was immediately changed, to an area code that for landlines is a long distance call. For many folks that's not an issue but since I get calls from POTS lines, it is. Of course, getting the old number back is not an option.
Given the wording I sent, I need some opinions from the group here...did I screw up or did Truphone jump the gun? I thought I was clear, that I had not asked for a change, but just rather how we might go about doing it.
Thanks in advance...mn
Yes, but it's not your fault. People whose first language isn't US English this phrase "...Is it possible to change my phone number?..." can be interpreted as a request to immediately change your number.
