Question Legacy Gold Rewards, "You must have enough in your prepaid service balance..."?

I've got an old Legacy Gold Rewards I used to pay $10/yr just to keep alive even though I barely use it. Today I logged in and see it's changed. There is now something that says, "You must have enough in your prepaid service balance before 10/02/2021 to renew your service" and shows $0.00. When I went to add $10 to it, I saw now that you can enter any random amount with $1.00 being the minimum. Curious what would happen if I just added $1.00, I gave that a shot. Now my "Available Service Balance" has gone up by $1.00 and Balance Expiration changed to 10/01/2022. That by itself makes sense, but that first line I mentioned about "You must have enough in your prepaid service" still shows 10/02/2021 and $0.00.

What does that mean? Do I still need to add more money to keep it alive, or not?

That is a part of the web page that is intended for monthly prepaid only, as far as I'm aware. The only thing that pertains to PAYGO is the "Available service balance" (which reflects funds you've added) and the "Balance Expiration". And of course the "Add to balance" button.

Surprised it let you add just a dollar and then rolled your renewal out another year.

I'd think we have more than enough in prepaid service balance to cover the $0 renewal amount.

I see the same "Renewal Amount $0.00
You must have enough in your prepaid service balance before 10/02/2021 to renew your service" for all four of my accounts.

The accounts all now have the correct Balance Expiration dates (in July or December). One account (moved on 8/26) was just fixed in the last few days.

This is a nice discovery by you, I hope it sticks. Maybe that's how the new platform is intended to work (like 10 cents a minute).

Unfortunately states like Colorado now charge a fixed fee.

Thanks for helping to clarify things for me. Seems like I'm good for another year on just $1.00.

I'm pretty sure it's just temporary. Must be they forgot about their Legacy Gold Rewards members and will "fix" it when they find out it's letting people extend a year on just a dollar.

How do you add the dollar?
I've always used CallingMart for the $10 a year top up.

    Credit card or debit card?
    PayPal?

It'll be interesting to see how this anomaly plays out. One of those "if it's too good to be true..." type of things.

Okay thank you so much for the information.
I will give it a try soon.
My Legacy Gold Rewards line is still good until April 2022.

I just wish that I could get rid of it really.
The balance is too high for anyone to be truly interested in taking it off my hands though.
I've had the line since February 2007.

My gold rewards started with a Nokia 6010 package from Tmobile in 2003. It was $29.95. Tmo has upgraded the SIM 4 times so far for free.
There are guys on Ebay trying to sell a Gold Rewards SIM for $299.
I offered to sell mine to them, no reply. I keep it around for testing phones.
I sold a G.R. SIM from my wife's phone for $35 to someone on one of the forums here.

Lol, must be a state thing. I'm getting "other taxes and fees" of $1.50 added on. So my $1 becomes a $2.50 charge, here.

Guess I'll just wait until my regular re-up.

    @dfriz:

I started with the same package, but in 2005! I still use my unblemished 6010 as my primary alarm clock!

I also started with a Nokia 6010 in early 2006.

Current balance = $250.89 Does anyone have a higher balance?

It didn't quite work for me. I have a line that expires on 10/20/2021. I refilled $1 (+ tax). My balance increased by $1 but the new expiration date is 1/11/2022. i.e. renewed for just 90 days.

It is still cheaper than refilling $10 but it is 4 times as much work.

(Edit: False Alarm. I refreshed the page again after 5 min and it is now showing 10/13/2022)
