Is there a way to make the speaker icon less sensitive?

My wife has the 6S+ and often when she's on a call her cheek will rub against the speaker icon and activate speakerphone. I thought she was pressing the phone to hard against her cheek, but I was on a call with her phone the other day and the same thing happened to me.

Is there a setting somewhere on the iPhone to make the icons less sensitive to touch? She doesn't want to disable the icon entirely, just make it less sensitive.
If you think the pandemic is bad now, just wait. Doctors tell us the next variant plays the accordion.

Not sure about iPhones, but on Android pressing the power button turns off the screen when on calls. This stops all unwanted actions and I do this for most calls.

The iPhone has a proximity sensor that should shut off the screen when the phone is pressed against your face. If that's not happening, there is a problem with the proximity sensor. Here's an article I found via Google that gives some things to try to fix it:

All phones have proximity sensors & none work perfectly, especially if trying to hold the phone with your shoulder.

The only fool proof solution is to turn off the screen.
