I know this has already been discussed on the AT&T subreddit, but for the unaware, AT&T has a secret postpaid standalone $20/month tablet unlimited data plan that comes with 10 GB full-speed hotspot (then 128 Kbps), 5G access, and free roaming in Canada and Mexico. By “secret” I mean that AT&T doesn’t advertise it or even have it on their website, but I was able to sign up for the plan yesterday by simply going into an AT&T store and asking for it, even though I didn’t have an AT&T postpaid account and therefore had to have one created just for this plan.

The only catch is that it’s always deprioritized, but as others have mentioned, deprioritized AT&T data is generally of a quality similar to prioritized AT&T data (unlike on Verizon, where it can spell doom). Despite it saying it only comes with standard definition video, I was able to enable any video resolution by disabling Stream Saver. (Given that I get ~100 Mbps at home over AT&T LTE, I feel comfortable describing this plan as supporting 4K streaming.)

I hear (but have not confirmed) that this plan can be used for unlimited hotspotting by overwriting a hotspot’s IMEI with that of a cellular tablet, which can be done using apps like this. Of course this is a violation of the ToS, but if you don’t go wild with it, you would probably be fine.

I’ve heard mixed reports on whether this $20 plan comes with any prioritized data if it’s added to an account subscribed to a premium unlimited plan such as Unlimited Elite. It definitely did prior to September, but no idea now. Even if it doesn’t, this is a very good deal imo.
Just went and got a new account and SIM with this plan TONIGHT at an Authorized AT&T Retailer right next to where I work! Tested the speed in my new factory unlocked Samsung Galaxy Tab Active Pro that I bought on Amazon Prime Day, and at work, AT&T's LTE speeds leave T-Mobile and VZW way back in the rearview mirror! (Both carriers' cell sites by my job are constantly overloaded with too many simultaneous users.)

Much obliged to you, VVivian, for the heads up about this plan!
    Photobucket's policy changes SUCK!

    New signature coming soon-ish...

The AT&T Unlimited Tablet plan does indeed appear to have 22 GB of premium data, by the way.

Currently, there’s only one way to get truly unlimited on-device data on a tablet with no deprioritization: Being in a Verizon 5G Ultra Wideband coverage area, having a tablet directly connected to 5G UW, and having the Verizon Unlimited Plus tablet plan.

Duly noted, but since my new tablet is only LTE, not 5G, the advantages of that Verizon plan would be lost, anyway. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

So, I got this plan this evening, and I downloaded the app to my tablet that's running the plan. Couldn't find that setting anywhere in the Android App, so I ended up just doing it through the My AT&T website on my laptop. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I just went into the app, clicked on my data usage that was showing for a line, scroll down and select "Manage data" and there is the SS option to turn on or off.

I'm surprised you got it working at an authorized retailer.

I wasn't seeing it in the App last night. Could be because it wasn't showing any data usage numbers yet? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Yep, amazingly, some of them actually know how to activate a new line of service!

That has to be a billing system bug. The plan explicitly promises free roaming in Canada and Mexico. It would be a cut and dry lawsuit, AT&T knows that, and therefore you wouldn’t even have to resort to it.

Thanks for reminding me it’s included in the $20 standalone. I called up and they just removed the charges now

One thing I don't like about this plan is that, since it isn't advertised or listed on their web site, it can be difficult to find out the terms and restrictions.

I have the IDP enabled in case I travel to a supported country and don't decide to use a local SIM. Of course, I have no trips planned

If you never travel,, it’s just listed as $0 right?

It doesn't even show up on my PDF copy of the bill. I only see that I have it by looking in my online account.

It worried me when I signed up for it, and got a CSS, but the final result on my bill when it came was nothing showed up.
