    Google's latest messaging service shakeup

Amusing article about Google's ever changing messaging strategy. A couple examples below.

When am I supposed to use Google Chat as opposed to Google Messages?
You use Google Chat on days with odd numbers of letters in their names and use Google Messages on days when the nearest visible grass has grown to a length that's between 1.4 inches and 7.62 centimeters.
How am I supposed to know if I need the Workspace Individual plan or if a regular free individual Google account is good enough for my needs?
    Yes.

A few people are fortunate in that they are only first learning how to use (send and receive) text messages. They only need to deal with the "Message" app.

read that article. Now my brain hurts.
So, if a person doesn't have gmail or chat I can't text them on my phone?

why does this have to be so confusing?

    Terrible article to read.
I can't say I understand that article. The Messages app on Android o.s. device shows a "Chat" button which seems to be what lets user write and then send a new or response text message. Maybe a little confusing when first seeing it, but as far as I can tell, no longer an obstacle. Maybe I am missing something. But then, I am a very simple user not usually looking for anything fancy.

I think they got things way convoluted.

Chat is separate from rcs - yes.

However, Google branded rcs as "chat FEATURES" (both words) to separate it from Google Chat.
