Not receiving text messages sent when my phone is off

I have a Pixel 3a BYOP, Tracfone Verizon. I am not receiving text messages sent from at least one sender when my phone is off (for example, overnight) . Shouldn't these messages be stored somewhere and sent to me as soon as I turn my phone back on? I have no problem receiving texts from this sender when my phone is on during the day. I suppose I could leave my phone on 24 hours/day, but would prefer not to. Thanks!

I just did some testing by sending SMS and MMS texts from my LG Q7+ BYOP TF/AT&T to my unlocked Pixel 4a on Visible (Verizon) while the Pixel was in Airplane mode. Once I turned off Airplane mode, all the texts came in.

I used Airplane mode because I didn't want to turn my Pixel off/on. Same effect as far as the network connection is concerned.

What network "mode" is the phone set for? The verbiage may vary by device, but this is the setting that allows for the type of network you want to allow connection to. Selections could be Automatic, CDMA, LTE, GSM, etc.. Automatic would probably be the correct one; anything that allows both LTE and CDMA, and excludes GSM. Just taking a shot with this.

Are you using the native messaging app? If you have RCS or Advanced Chat Features enabled, you might try turning that off and see if you get the same results.
