    AT&T 5G/5G+ Speed Test Thread!

Pretty impressive for standard 5G. I’m wondering if a C Band launch is imminent in this area of CT? Backhaul seems to suggest it.

This was the best i've seen from n77 in Chicago, clearly backed up by some uncluttered LTE channels, but it's a welcome change (this is definately not by my house haha)

Oof, that site needs a backhaul upgrade. Only 447 Mbps with 105 MHz of downlink spectrum??

200-400Mbps, even on C-Band is par the course in Chicago for AT&T. Even mmWave here seems to cap out around a gig.

Why they're just running 1Gbps to a site with c-band/mmWave is beyond me.

How are you verifying it's a backhaul constraint on these sites/ nodes? Last month while testing mmWave with some network friends in Minneapolis, individually we could not break a gig, maybe a little above. But between the three of us, SIMULTANEOUSLY we could do over 3 Gbps per second, which reflects a constraint somewhere that is not backhaul.

Well if it’s not backhaul, then that’s just awful of AT&T to throttle throughput. Literally no other carrier does that on mmWave.

I’ve only ever gotten about 1Gbps max from their mmWave, it acted about the same as T-Mobile before they upgraded their backhaul around here on n41, but now I’m seeing about 1.5Gbps from T-Mobile on n41 now that they’ve upped the backhaul

So can anybody make out who’s what on that cell tower? I’m guessing AT&T might be the top rack?

Hard to tell but looks like (top to bottom)

    • T-Mobile w/n41
    • Verizon w/ n77
    • Legacy Sprint?
    • Dish
    • ATT w/ n77 (3.7 CBand and 3.45 DoD here)

    Tmobile top rack with n41
Verizon second (I think it may have Samsung's old CBRS panel)
    Sprint
    Dish
AT&T bottom rack with n77 and DoD

Being on the iPhone 13 pro max, I unfortunately won’t be able to pick up DoD. Nonetheless still respectable speed.

They are testing n77 on the only site with 3.7 and 3.45 that's close to home. Interestingly enough, they are using n77 DoD without C band.

EDIT: This raises my question as to whether or not AT&T will decide to allow last years devices (i.e. iPhone 13, Galaxy S21 FE, Z Fold/Flip 3) to access this band.
