Simple Mobile only runs on T-Mobile doesn't it?

Has it moved to the 60-day unlock model like TracFone? If so maybe that's a place to get a T-Mobile friendly phone for a lower price.

I've noticed that Simple Mobile phones seem to sell for lower prices in some stores than the equivalent TracFone branded phones.

I read in FAQS at the SM site that people running on a network other than Verizon will be transitioned to Verizon.

I'm wondering if Verizon has been shipping The Simple Mobile phones with Verizon Sims since their acquisition?

Simple Mobile is still T-Mobile only. The unlocking policy didn't change on this one with the Verizon purchase, so still 12 months to unlock.
Verizon hasn't tipped their hand on what they're going to do with Simple Mobile in the long run. Some people think Verizon will just let it die, but I don't think so-- it's regularly the top-selling brand in independent phone stores that sell multiple brands, and I don't think Verizon wants to walk away from that.

There;s no mention of whether the OP obtained the relevant phone, but I don't believe one would be in that price range. Even refurbished phones from Amazon-certified refurbishers are going for at least $100 through Amazon.

I don't know if you're looking for ONLY TMo-branded phones.

If you're open to other phones, this is the one I found - I've been checking phones on the Mint byod checker - my Tracfone-branded Moto E5 passed the Mint checker with flying colors.

Mint's checker says that it has VoLTE as well as rural band 71.

My Moto E5 was unlocked after a year of bundled service on Tracfone (I had purchased that bundle for just 30 bucks!). I don't know if Tracfone's Moto E5 phones or bundles are still available, but now, after Verizon bought Tracfone, Tracfone phones can be unlocked just 60 days after activation.

Just checked my TF Moto E5 on TMo's site and it passed, too!
Target has the Moto E in scarce quantities for $40; HSN has the bundled Moto E, E6 and the G Play.

No, haven't obtained the relevant phone yet. No rush, as I have until July. I just looked on eBay today and there are a ton of LG Aristo 2 Pluses of various quality. I tend to like that model as it's smaller (only 5" display) and has a limit on how new a version of Android it'll go to.

The low end Motos generally get one Android version update.

Mine is on 9 and says updated to 9 so that is probably the end of the road. That might become a problem for some apps compatibility at some point. A few years is my guess.

The Moto phones I own have gotten phone updates - for bugs and security I guess.

Just to be clear, I'm not claiming that an E6 is some kind of ultimate phone. It's adequate and a pretty good deal for $40, on sale, for something good for a few years. I wouldn't pay $100 for one.

In a sea of big phones that seem to be getting bigger by the year, another thing to like about it is that it is slim and light. It also has a replaceable battery. No fingerprint sensor though.

Got a Alcatel Volta to use on H2O.
Had to change the APN settings to H2O's before any signal bars appeared.

Texts don't work but Voice works fine. Tried to get APN settings from H2O, but they will only send them to you by text. Tried several APN settings from the web, same result, c/nt send/rec texts. Can get texts from H2O however, offering to send APN configuration but it never comes.

If it's doomed to not ever text, it will do the job of using up my H2O minutes/data.

I needed something to work with H2O on AT&T.

I found out why the texting did;nt work. When I had activated H2O years ago, I had texting disabled. So the Volta texting should work normally.
