FirstNet Sold Devices Cannot Be Unlocked

I ordered an iPhone SE a month ago. I decided to try the age-old trick of unlocking it before activation to see if it would go thru. It said it wasnt an at&t device. I have had the service a month now, and i get the same message. This was for a device sold thru firstnet. Im beginning to think that I'll never get to unlock this iPhone. Conversely, I was able to unlock a brand new Cricket iPhone 7 Plus using at&t's unlock portal.

I think OP was pointing out that the trick that used to (still does?) work, especially on Cricket devices, doesn't work on FirstNet devices. I don't think it matters if it's an SE or 7 Plus or whatever.

Also, I didn't realize that still works...maybe the next time they do the port-in deals (7 is out of stock), it may be worth picking up to try.

If you are a FirstNet customer, you can call the 800 number and get the phone unlocked with no issues. I've unlocked quite a few FirstNet-ordered phones this way.

Can you please elaborate what you mean? are you talking about the unlock request through att device unlock portal before opening / activating the device itself?
