New Net10 Plans with Promo Customers?

I haven’t seen this mentioned anywhere but Net10 has upgraded some of their service plans like the $20 1GB Smartphone Plan is now 2GB.

How exactly does that work for customers with “Double Data” promos where they had 2GB instead of 1GB.

Do they just “convert” to 2GB or actually become 4GB?

I tried asking Customer Service but they tried telling me a "Double Data" promo did not exist....

I would bet the double data promo is tied to the plan you originally had, and that it will go away if you change plans.

To me, the question is whether Tracfone will increase its data allotment on their plans. I believe this makes Net10 a better value if you have moderate data usage. To get the equivalent on TF, the 2 gig monthly plan is $25. My Net10 annual plan ends in a few weeks. I was planning on ditching Net10 but this new plan has me reconsidering.

I would jump on this if it has official tethering, which it does not unfortunately. Otherwise it is a good deal.

I was in a similar boat myself, not with an annual plan, but I was looking at Tracfone vs Net10.

I had the Net10 Easy Minutes which just seems to be a ripoff these days.

I was going to go with a Tracfone non-unlimited plan since I don't use my phone too often, but decided on the Net10 $20 because I had a "new customer" promo of 2GB Data but now I guess I am 2GB + $10 International since the entire plan upgraded. I also get some free months due to Net10 Points, I got like 3 months of the $20 plan so far. (It's difficult to get a perfect plan as I didn't really need unlimited minutes/SMS (have Google Voice also) but really could use the 2GB Data for on the go or even a backup when my ISP is out).

I was going to get the Tracfone $20 but read that supposedly if you do max out the 1GB, Tracfone requires you buy more data while Net10 lowers you to slow 2G. I guess glad I didn't get Tracfone one now that it's only half the Net10s and you can go past the 2GB if you have to.
