Question Red Pocket: ATT- how do you remove the password for voicemail?

Got my mom an RP att plan. She is 92 years old, and cannot remember her password. Anyone do this successfully? Cust Service has been of no help.

I don't think you can. I have never used a carrier's voice mail without password. Can she remember your birthday?

She calls me to ask what her phone # is.

CS gave me a code to use to bypass the PW when setting up the voicemail, but it did not work.

I think maybe you're going to have to tape a note to the phone with the voicemail password and phone #.

I've not had it done specifically for RP AT&T, but there have been several times when I've had to contact support to have the voicemail for a particular line completely reset for people with similar issues. Then you simply set up the voicemail from scratch with a new password.

After that's done, don't forget the taped note idea...

I think google voice can be configured such that when a call comes in from a linked number it does not prompt for the password.

To use this you will need to set up conditional call forwarding on her number to a linked google voice number.

Edit: I know this can be done because a relative is using RP gsma (att) and vm is handled through gv.

Correct, that's exactly what I use Google Voice for. No password is required and as a bonus you also get transcription.

The only issue may be initially getting call forwarding setup on AT&T. Not all phones can do that for whatever reason. I guess you could always call in and have customer service do it if the phone won't.

    Here's a PITA solution.
I've changed from AT&T MVNO to AT&T MVNO a bunch of times. And afair the VM system stayed the same including the same PW.

But & I can't remember which carriers but over the years I've changed between different carrier backbones. And sometimes that has involved setting up VM anew & picking a "new" password.
