Verizon now has in-bound international roaming on compatible phones (e.g. Bell Canada)

My friend in Canada just told me about this: https://www.bell.ca/Mobility/Coverage_map

Bell Canada with its compatible phones with Verizon's 700MHz block (iPhones, Samsung S9+) can now roam on Verizon's LTE/VoLTE network while in the USA! This is awesome and a new source of revenue for Verizon I guess. Bell Canada also has an agreement with T-Mobile but not VoLTE roaming with AT&T (LTE compatible, down to UMTS on AT&T for voice).

What took them so long? Does this mean more generous data caps while roaming in Canada?

Bell’s Roam Better with home data sounds just like how Verizon handles Canadian roaming with TravelPass. Both use domestic talk and text, both give you 500MB of data daily before throttling to a slower speed. Both have a low price when in the others country and charge more in other destinations.

I’d be interested if there was VoLTE and HD Voice interoperability between a Bell customer and a Verizon customer.

You should say something in the Bell section. I’m sure they’d be interested. https://howardforums.com/forumdispla...gin-Lucky-Solo

I haven’t seen any press releases mentioning this, or naming Verizon as a roaming partner, although this article does mention VoLTE roaming in the U.S. https://support.bell.ca/mobility/rat...e?step=5#step5. Kinda interesting Bell specifically mentions requiring iOS 13.4 and Android 10 for certain phones. I wonder what changes were made in those releases that iOS 13.3 and Android Pie don’t have.
