Another T-Mobile First: Standards-based RCS Universal Profile 1.0

“The Internet wasn’t meant to be metered in bits and bytes, so it’s insane that wireless companies are still making you buy it this way. The rate plan is dead — it’s a fossil from a time when wireless was metered by every call or text.” John Legere 1/5/2017

The key may be: "Now T-Mobile is boasting that it’s the first in the world to implement a full standards-based RCS Universal Profile 1.0 interconnect with Google’s Messages service." Some users on Tracfone/Verizon have had RCS Chat active since last Summer. From my limited trial with another like user it did not look like all the features were active. Yes, both phones needed to be running Google Messages.

Google partnering with Samsung is now allowing RCS to run on (some) phones with Samsung Messages.

I am glad that Google and T Mobile USA is leading the way with RCS Messaging, hopefully that will force AT&T and Verizon to implement a universal RCS Messaging profile as well.
