    Moto e5 signal issue

In Jun 2019 I purchased the phone with 1 yr service from HSN. Starting Oct 2019 I sometimes noticed DATA signal changed from LTE to 3G to none. Then beginning this month CELL signal disappears for a few minutes to about half hr. For instance, Saturday it happened for about 25 minutes at one time. It might happen more often as I don't check it all the time. Sunday it happened at least 4 times ranging from a few minutes to 20 minutes. It showed "No Service", "Searching for service", "Emergency calls only". Rebooting the phone didn't help. Changing "Preferred network type" and "System select" didn't help either. Service end date is next yr. I can't find VoLTE but the Enhanced 4G LTE Mode is on. Verizon network is the best in 20692. I've been with TF for yrs and didn't notice this until recently. Anything else should I check?

Sometimes a local tower is taken down for maintenance/repair. Does anyone else in your household have a phone that uses Verizon service? If yes and that phone works while you phone has no signal, then your phone has gone bad.

If multiple phones on the same network have no signal, then search the Internet for report of outages, use keywords "Verizon Outage Report".

Thanks hpham. This is the only active cell phone. Keywords "Verizon Outage Report" search shows outage in areas 50+ miles away. Which site exactly do you use?

I had a friend that had a bad SIM card. He had only CDMA service only. Do you have another Tracfone based SIM to test that idea?

By the way, Enhanced 4G LTE mode is the same as VoLTE. Each company might use a different name for VoLTE.

Can a Sim suddenly turn bad without touching it or dropping the phone?
No wonder. I checked everything in the settings and couldn't find VoLTE

They call it Enhanced 4G LTE.

I guess a SIM can short out, don't know.

Do you have an old phone you can pop the SIM into and see if it works?

Some posts mentioned about pairing sim phone and need to contact TF. Would this be the case if I want to test it? I haven't noticed lost signal since the OP so it's intermittent

SIMS can go bad on their own. The erratic nature does seem to point to a tower signal problem. If there are no checking methods at home, you could take the phone to another location a few miles away. Towns or major highways.

If you just want to swap SIM/phone temporarily to test, no needs to contact TF.

After my last post I walked away and when I was pack it happened again. I didn't have a chance to put the sim in the other phone to test but will try it next time.
    Thanks everyone for your advice.

Here is another idea. There could be a cold solder joint in the phone. That would explain why it is very random too. If it is cold solder joint in the phone, using a temp phone will tell you that too. That would even tell you if it is SIM card too.

And don't worry about putting the sim in your other phone even for a couple days to get a good test. Assuming it's a VoLTE phone too?
If it ends up being a bad phone you can even keep the sim in your temp till you get a new primary phone.
