New Tracfone LG Classic Flip L125DL Quick Review

I really do like this phone. It is light, easy to use, and has good call quality. Simple to assemble, charges
fast, and most of the default settings are perfect out of the box. Activation was a breeze (I used Tracfone chat)
and only took a few minutes. WIFI and Tower antennas are really good. Nice signals for both.
The Contacts app has an In Case of Emergency feature where you can put info concerning
medical problems, prescriptions taken, who to call, etc. I guess this is okay for someone that needs it, but I was
not happy when I found that I could not delete it. Otherwise, the contacts list is typical android. You can make
Favorites and Groups, which is handy if you have a lot of contacts. Speed dial setup is easy and intuitive. Recalling
last apps used or last number dialed is very easy.
A special feature is the SOS button on the back of the phone. Click the button 3 times and it will call an emergency
number, turn on GPS, xmit your location and listen on the microphone to what is going on. You can turn it on or off.
Voice commands feature works great. You can make calls and activate apps with your voice. The FM Radio is very
good, auto scan worked great and fast. The speaker is bit tinny, but using earphones sound is very good.
Did not add an email account. Many shortcuts on this phone that make it really easy to use.
You can download the user manual at https://www.mylgphones.com/wp-conten...1.0_200203.pdf

Any observations on battery life? I will need to get a new phone for my mother eventually as Verizon is shutting off 1x/3g at the end of the year. She is currently on Total Wireless.

Wondering if this is the same as the LG Folder 2 released overseas on April 17th? That phone has an nice 1470 mah battery.

    Thanks!!

Interesting. It appears to have more features than the Alcatel MyFlip and costs twice as much. I looked at the specs on the Tracfone website and saw:

Never having heard of AOSP I consulted the source of all wisdom and knowledge in the universe second only to Almighty God Himself which is, of course, YouTube. I watched the complete video and confess that I don't know any more about AOSP than before I watched it. I was assuming it would run KaiOS like the MyFlip.

It's good to know that there is another 4G LTE flip phone option for folks who want one.
This fall be sure to get your pumpkin spice COVID-19 booster shot.

From what I understand AOSP stands for android open source project. It is basically android without all of the Google apps.

Same battery. I have been using it for two days, making calls, playing with menus and listening to FM Radio for an hour this morning. Checked battery and still have 82 percent.

This is a no frills, slimmed down Android 8.1 OS. My wife uses it just to make phone calls when she is out. She has no use for a touch screen and does not use email, so have not loaded any email. See the manual for the apps that come with it. No Playstore access.

Can you use the speakerphone and not end the call when it is flipped closed during a call? Does it exit the menus when you flip it closed too?

Even with speaker on the call will end when you close it. When you flip closed it will exit all menus.

That sounds very close to what I want to get my grandma then. The MyFlip will not close the menus when you close the menus. It sometimes confuses her since she like really really basic flip phones.

Ending the call when flipping it close is OK, but it is not like really old non-LTE flip phones.

Can you load the Google Play Store? And is this VZW or Sprint CDMA? And is this VoLTE capable, I would guess yes.

This why I got this phone. It is simple to use. You can save 99 quick dial numbers. Just press a key or 2 and it makes a call. Close it when done. Battery life so far is very good.

I'd also like to know the app ability. I understand the phone will be limited on memory and speed, but could a simple app be downloaded from PlayStore and used?

As far as VoLTE, it is a VoLTE phone and may even be cdma-less like the MyFlip. It's certainly Verizon and since it's a DL model should be good for ATT and TMO. I wouldn't bank on Sprint though.

I seem to remember some old flip phones had settings for answer on opening and off when closed. My flip phones were all Motorolas, which had extensive set up options.

Yes, likely does not have CDMA. It would be good to know if this phone can use LTE Band 71. Can make a difference with reception if on the T-Mobile network. Very few phones have this, other than T-Mobile branded.
