The person on Reddit who is claiming that he viewed a top secret AT&T document, which he says proves the $15 plan will not be grandfathered, is unbelievable -- both literally and figuratively. I wonder if he found that document in an underground vault at Area 51 LOL. By the way, I am suspicious that he is using sock puppets on Reddit.

I am sure everyone wants to keep the $15.00 plan but it is just wishful thinking. My wife got a text from Cricket on May 29th stating the $15 plan was going up to $30 on July 14th. AT&T is probably driving that as Cricket has been good about grandfathering people on discontinued plans.

It’s not just 1 person, it’s several verified employees. For job security purposes, they can’t post images of internal documents. Just like nobody wanted to believe the guy on the cricket forum that said the price was going up, but he was right.

It makes perfect sense. This was supposedly an emergency plan for people impacted by the pandemic (as opposed to T-Mo's similar $15 plan that was offered to appease regulators so they'd approve the merger with Sprint. T-Mo promised to offer their plan for up to five years.)

If anyone thought this AT&T plan would stick around to compete with T-Mo's, their hopes should've been dashed when AT&T stopped offering it to new customers.

Now that the country is starting to open back up, and many other "emergency" offers from other companies are also expiring, it makes sense AT&T would pull the plug on this one too.

Pandemic related unemployment and financial hardship are even worse now than when the $15 plan was launched. It would've been nice if AT&T kept the plan until the economic recovery was well underway.

I certainly agree, but the end of allowing new sign ups tells us all we really needed to know about the plan- it wasn't because AT&T actually wanted to help people, it was designed to foster corporate goodwill by *looking* like they wanted to help people.

*That* phase of the pandemic is seemingly over for many of the corporations selling us, er, um, I mean telling us "we're all in this together"

looks like someone got a message about it https://www.reddit.com/r/NoContract/...ce_increasing/

anyways, that little "price subject to change" was always suspicious to me.

Yup, me too, only thing that makes me angry is the typical AT&T lying, would have been so easy to have that date displayed from the beginning. They specialize in pissing people off.

ATT also upped the price to add additional data to this plan.

Used to be $10 for an extra gig. Now it’s $15.

Looks like I lucked out. Have $30 on my account. That should be good for tomorrow's renewal and the one in July. Then I will port out somewhere else. Any suggestions?

T-Mobile Connect for $15 per month with 2GB:

    https://prepaid.t-mobile.com/prepaid-plans/connect

Guaranteed to be continued by T-mobile as part of their merger agreement for five years and they'll increase the monthly data each year by 500 MB.
