Today, Apple announced the new iPhone SE:

Cupertino, California — Apple today announced the second-generation iPhone SE, a powerful new iPhone featuring a 4.7-inch Retina HD display, paired with Touch ID for industry-leading security. iPhone SE comes in a compact design, reinvented from the inside out, and is the most affordable iPhone. The new iPhone SE is powered by the Apple-designed A13 Bionic, the fastest chip in a smartphone, to handle the most demanding tasks. iPhone SE also features the best single-camera system ever in an iPhone, which unlocks the benefits of computational photography including Portrait mode, and is designed to withstand the elements with dust and water resistance.
iPhone SE comes in three beautiful colors — black, white and (PRODUCT)RED — and will be available for pre-order beginning Friday, April 17, starting at just $399 (US).

Reasonable size? It has a tiny 4.7" screen. Yet the actual phone size is only a little smaller than my Galaxy S10. Which has a 6.1" screen. That Apple phone is huge for the size of the screen it has.

Bezels on top & bottom are large , no doubt.
Yet.....one does get accustom to any screen size.
It’s price & features will appeal to those who want an inexpensive iPhone .

    Great price and decent specs.

Not my cup of tea but it’ll still sell to those who want an apple device while price conscious.

This may be the android killer, great for grandma, kids, and people who don’t want to spend a fortune on an iPhone. Also nice for those afraid of face unlock and prefer the finger print. Most people aren’t protesting the bezel. It’s popular and already selling out. Look for $99 prices on Black Friday if the covid is under control.

The screen size is only .7 inches diagonally larger than the original iPhone SE. I wouldn't call it huge. You cannot compare to a modern Samsung Galaxy device. I use a Galaxy S9+ which is also much larger compared to the original SE and the new SE 2020. I would not consider the new model SE as huge.

Excuse the pun, but don't compare Apples to Androids.

Does anyone know if the bands are all the same between carrier models and the sim free version?

The size complaint is about the overall dimensions compared to screen size because of the large bezel area. The body is basically a 6/7/8 with upgraded internals. Less design cost for a budget model. They did the same thing making the original SE from the 5, with 6 internals.

Based on the Apple site there is just one model for the US. I think it confusing that they duplicate the model in their table, one with (GSM) appended and one with (CDMA) appended but it is likely the same phone. I think it just means that, when a "CDMA" carrier's SIM in inserted and configured, it will also support CDMA bands/radio.
iPhone 11 is my current primary phone. But I have more phones than lines. Back to only Prepaid with the changes in the economy.

I got this phone and am very happy with it. It's the perfect pocket size for me and is fast and up to date.

CDMA devices (used by Sprint or Verizon) don't need or require/use a SIM card, only LTE/VOLTE or GSM phones use a SIM card.

Didn't you see the quotes around CDMA? Verizon has used SIM cards for years. For LTE on their network, and some phones before then to support international use of the phone.

GSM is also used as a catchall by many people for ATT and T-Mobile, even though ATT doesn't do GSM anymore, just UMTS (UTMS?), LTE, and 5G now.

If I put in a Verizon SIM card into an existing phone like an iPhone 11, unless my account has been configured to be CDMA-less, it will support CDMA if I'm in an area without LTE support.
