    aloha
my 6 year old S3 has started turning itself off randomly.
does this mean i have to replace it or can this be fixed easily?
this is not a battery problem as it occurs with multiple batteries.
    cheers

Alas, sounds like it is time for a newer phone. Don't waste time and money trying to fix the old one. Typically, phones last about 2 years and some for several years. In this case the Android OS is extremely dated and cannot be updated to the most current version.
Don't make me turn this car around.....

The Galaxy S5 has a restore setting called "Reset settings" in the Backup and Reset section. The S3 does not seem to have this, but only "Factory data reset" which wipes out everything added since the phone was new. You might look to verify this.

Yes, the old "Flagship" phones do eventually start failing. If you want to stay with that line get at least the S7.

I would try doing a factory reset, but don't have it do app and data backup or restore. You will have to reinstall and configure everything again - PITA. Chances are you have picked up a bad app along the way or one has gotten corrupted. There's also the chance that the phone has developed a defect that's not worth fixing.

It seems like my S3 has gotten slow over the years. I don't know if it is really slower or I'm just used to newer, faster phones now. Mine is just a backup that's left in the car with Tello service.
