Verizon Gives Customers Extra 15GB of Data to Use Amid Coronavirus Crisis

    https://www.droid-life.com/2020/03/2...ree-15gb-data/

As a part of their pledge to support those affected by coronavirus, Verizon today announced that they are giving wireless and small business customers an extra 15GB of data to use at no additional charge. Since so many have unlimited data plans, there are some things to note here.
First of all, the free 15GB of data is available to customers from March 25 through April 30. It will be added to your plans at no charge and new customers can also take advantage. You do not need to do anything to get the data as it will be added automatically.

If you are an unlimited customer, Verizon is getting you the data in the form of additional hotspot data. For prepaid folks, you’ll get the 15GB added to your plan for use in almost any way. Jetpack customers are included in the bonus as well.

Here’s the breakdown of who gets what, according to Verizon:

For Verizon consumer and small business postpaid unlimited customers, 15GB of 4G LTE hotspot data will be added to your current plan.

For Verizon consumer prepaid and consumer and small business postpaid metered customers, 15GB will be added to your current standalone or shared data plan, which can be used for smartphone, hotspot or other connected device use.

Standalone metered and unlimited Jetpack plans will also be provided an additional 15GB of 4G LTE data.

There is no action needed as the data will automatically be added to your plan.

Verizon did specify that all plans available since 2015 are eligible for this data boost, including the following plans: More Everything, Verizon Plan 1.0, Verizon Plan 2.0, the Verizon Unlimited Plan, and all Mix & Match Unlimited plans. For small businesses, as long as you have 50 lines or less, you too will get the data boost.

This news of a free 15GB data comes in addition to Verizon’s pledge to keep everyone connected and not charge late fees. Of course, that whole pledge is quite vague and they never did respond to us when we asked for specifics on how people can take advantage. That’s pretty ******, to be honest, and they should make it crystal clear how you can take advantage of everything during this time of crisis.
As for the free data, again, you should see it on March 25.

Totally agree. What do y’all think. Either the network can’t handle it or they are truly greedy?

But also in my opinion at the end of the day they don’t have to do anything. Although, it’s appreciated if they do.

To my knowledge AT&T has not given any extra hotspot data.

    Haters gonna hate.

Verizon has a long record of doing this during crises. I remember getting extra data and minutes during several hurricanes.

Does it matter? Seriously is that how you think? You're like a wife who complains about the husband not doing the dishes then one night he does them and then she still complaints saying "you're only doing this because I complain about it all the time" Actions only count if they are done for the "right" reasons?

Very nice of Verizon but I have never gone over 13gb , maybe I should try using it to watch a movie or something.

Wondering how to tell how much data I have. It does not show any extra just my usual balance when I pull up “my Verizon”. Can’t tell if I have any extra or not.

“The Internet wasn’t meant to be metered in bits and bytes, so it’s insane that wireless companies are still making you buy it this way. The rate plan is dead — it’s a fossil from a time when wireless was metered by every call or text.” John Legere 1/5/2017

It doesn’t get added until tomorrow I believe.

Ironic that you chose this quote because I’ve never seen more support for a general strike than there is right now. Search hashtag #GeneralStrike on Twitter if you don’t believe me >.>

Obligatory relevance disclaimer: A general strike could affect Verizon network performance as well as availability of sales and support.

My guess is it’ll be listed in the FreeBee section.

Here it is tomorrow and I don't show any extra data. I'm on the Verizon Plan.

It's there. My friend has gone through data like a crazy person installing slots and pinball games on Steam, his line is already at 24GB data like 10 days into the billing cycle; the site (at least yesterday) SAID 24GB hotspot data use, that the 15GB of data was exceeded so it was throttled to 600kbps, but it was running at full speed.

in addition to Verizon’s pledge to keep everyone connected and not charge late fees. I don't really understand how this is vague. Usually if you get behind they charge you a late fee, and may shut off your service for non-payment. They are not doing that.
