    Keep Americans Connected Pledge

In response to the coronavirus pandemic, ATT is participating in FCC Chairman Pai’s “Keep Americans Connected Pledge”. Consequently, ATT is doing the following from March 13 to May 13:

    (1) ATT will "not terminate the service of any wireless, home phone or broadband residential or small business customer because of their inability to pay their bill due to disruptions caused by the coronavirus pandemic."

    (2) ATT will "waive domestic wireless plan overage charges for data, voice or text for residential or small business wireless customers incurred because of economic hardship related to the coronavirus pandemic."

NOTE: This post is only intended to focus on the stuff that is relevant to this forum. For more details about what ATT is doing in response to the coronavirus pandemic, go to this web page (which is the source of the quotes above):

In the CNN interview video on that ATT web page, Randall Stephenson says, "We will waive data caps... on your wireless." Start watching at about 5:00.

Just in case ATT removes that video from its own website, you can also watch it on YouTube.

Update re ATT response to pandemic:

ATT has apparently reneged on its pledge to waive data caps and will instead give 10GB/month data bonuses. For more info, read this HoFo thread:

I don’t think this applies to prepaid because there is no bill, it’s prepaid, same with overages.

It seems the promise of unlimited data on every plan was just the CEO making something up to sound beneficent. Seems to be a common strategy by powerful people.

Between the walmart promo and the covid promo I've lost track of how much data I've got. To think I used to do all sorts of tricks to cram my use in 3GB, things are much better now.

Same here. That was probably part of the analysis they made when deciding whether to do the offer.

I still hope people who need it most do get advantage of it though.

And frankly, with the added strain on home ISPs from everyone stuck at home streaming (I mean working from home and remote schooling!) it definitely doesn't hurt to have a decent cellular backup if your home internet goes down for a bit...

Well, the first month with the extra 10GB has gone and I barely made a dent on that promotional data allowance since we've been using mostly Wi-Fi, but still it was nice to have. \

Wasn't this promotion supposed to last for two months, until May?
This morning OLAM only shows the regular data allowance for the plan on my accounts. No promo data renewal so far.
