I've taken this many times and bring my work AT&T phone for comparison.

Wow. Looks like AT&T is the only carrier worth using up there. I remember years back Verizon seemed to dominate northern MI.

A longtime back... At&t roamed on Centennial and Cell one Dobson in northern MI and the UP... Then they bought them. In many parts of the UP, VZW may still have an edge as the carrier that has been used there forever. At&t may catch up... But add long as they don't offer anything better, why would people switch.

AT&T used to deploy ER-GSM in parts of UP. From tall towers that really pumped out the range.

Wouldn't surprise me. The UP parts that i have been through are relatively flat. I did use AT&T back. In their early GSM days as they had "The North America package" which was a bolt on for $10 to call/roam in Canada and not get any extra charges. Worked well from the bottom of St Josephs Island picking up Cell one as well from Drummond Island

That’s true. However once acquired and the network cores were merged, VZ did rebuild around 80% of the old Golden State sites to get them up to date. In many areas this involved an actual or higher tower and sectorizing many sites that only had an omni antenna. So it did result in a good deal more physical coverage.
Then about a year after that, they started putting up additional sites where coverage was lacking. They aren’t perfect but they do a good job.

AT&T has been making a big push for new sites around here too lately. Completed probably 7 so far and have another 3 in construction. And that’s in Tuolumne County alone. Nice to see.

Another area that I've been to where TMobile will need to pick up its game in rural America is Kauai. I roamed a lot on AT&T when I was there...they have since deployed B12/B71, but. In places like Lihue, indoors is effectively No Service. Even more noticeable are places in upstate NY/VT in my travels

I wonder if tower upgrade crews are working during the corona shutdown? It seems like a job where you don't come into contact with a wide variety of people during the day. I don't mean in NYC or L.A. but out in the country and suburbs.

And hopefully the EMF fields on the towers kill germs

It may help kill something... especially if you're close to the panels.

No wonder you are banned. Many of the members here had enough of your anti T-Mobile rhetoric.
